Research On The Anti-enemy Supporter’ Associations In Sichuan During The Anti-japanese War

After the“Mukden Incident”happened on Semtember 18,1931,Japan occupied the Northeast China and attacked North China continuously,people from all walks of life spontaneously organized a large number of Anti Japanese and national salvation organizzations with different names.“The July 7^th incident”in 1937 indicated that Japan launched an all-out attack against China,which inspired the strongest patriotic enthusiasm of all the people.On the one hand,there were soldiers in front who fought bravely to defent their country and on the other hand,the people in the rear did not shrink back.They organized together to support the Anti Japanese War,concentrated their manpower and material resources to support the front line.With the support of the general public,Sichuan province established the Anti-enemy Supporters’Association on July 21 in 1937,and then the anti enemy support branches were established in cities and industries across Sichuan province.These organizations have relatively complete rules and regulations,which ensured the smooth progress of the Anti Japanese rescue work.Under this situation,with the efferts of all kinds of organizations,including the leadership of the Anti Japanese back-up Association of all walks of life in Sichuan Province as well asother anti Japanese and national salvation organizations,People actively carried out the Anti Japanese and national salvation activities with rich contents and various forms.In terms of propaganda and mobilization,the propaganda teams were organized to give lectures,hold entertainment activities,distribute leaflets,set up wall newspapers,and magazines,perform plays,teach and sing songs of national salvation and other forms of publicity,so as to mobilize the broad masses to join the Anti Japanese national salvation movement.In terms of recruiting materials,we organized various fund-raising activities such as cold clothing campaign,anti Japanese war materials,donations,and collected human and material resources from all over Sichuan to support the war,so as to ensure the smooth progress of the protracted war.In terms of boycotting Japanese goods,in order to cooperate with the Committee for eliminating feuds,a committee for rooting out feuds was established to,check and clear the Japanese goods in Sichuan,effectively guide the people in Sichuan to boycott Japanese goods and to promote the development of national industry.This paper describes the various Anti Japanese and national salvation activities organized by the Anti Japanese backup Associations of all walks of life in Sichuan Province,try to analyze the role of these organizations in the aspects of mobilizing the people,recruiting materials,supporting the Anti Japanese War,and also to analyze people’s contribution from all walks of life in Sichuan Province so that to have a better understanding of the process of struggle for anti Japanese salvation from different classes and factions in the rear.
