According to the Chinese-Japanese homographs from The Standard Japanese–step one, this paper examines the negative transfer of mother tongue in a group ofJapanese learners whose Chinese level are in elementary stage.Meanwhile, the writermakes a comparison on negative transfer between the two mandarin levels ofJapanese learners when they study the three kinds of homographs. In the end, theauthor offers some ideas to the mandarin teachers when they teach vocabularies forforeign students.The body of the thesis consists of six parts. Part one serves as ageneral introduction to this study, where the researcher expounds its background,summarizes literatures on study of Chinese-Japanese homographs both at home andabroad and introduces the purpose, significance and the chief content of the paper. Inthe same place, the author provides the conception about Chinese-Japanesehomograph and negative transfer. Part two lists the three kinds of Chinese-Japanesehomographs from The Standard Japanese–step one.Part three focuses on thequestionnaire design,content implementation and statistical analysis. Part fourconcerns the result of the survey and discuss, where the research has a further studyon negative transfer for Japanese learners when they study Chinese-Japanesehomographs, as well as makes a further comparison on negative transfer between thetwo mandarin levels of Japanese learners. Part five presents the correspondingteaching suggestions in accordance with the Chinese-Japanese homographs formandarin teacher when they face the Japanese learners. The ending part involves theconclusion of the study,including the new ideas and deficiencies that still exist in thisthesis.
