Li Rihua (1565-1635) who had some different names as Junshi, Zhulan, Jiuyiwas born in Jiaxing of Zhejiang Province. He passed the royal examination in 1593.He became official of TaiPusi Shaoqing. He has many rooms named as Zi Taoxuan,Liu Yanzhai and Wei Shuixuan. He had a lot of works as Litaipu TianZhitang corpus,LiuYanzhan Notes, ZiTaoxuan Zazhui, ZhuLan Huaying, WeiShuixuan Diary and soon. Li Rihua was good at literature, painting and calligraphy. At that time, he was anexpert in Jiangnan, people all respected and trusted his views.Until now, the research of Li Rihua has focused on the field of literature,painting and calligraphy. There is no attention on the life and works of his. For morein-depth understanding of Li Rihua, Ming cultural circles of Jiangnan, especiallyJiaxing painting and calligraphy, I write The Chronicle Biography of Li Rihua tooffset the lossegard. My thesis about all the life of Li Rihua from 1565 to 1635,follows three stages: First, the period before he passed the royal examinations.Second is the period of being official in Jiangxi, Ruzhou and Jinghua. Third, theperiod begin from he relieved office until his death. This thesis appendix is a largenumber of data as biography, the spreads of works and so on.This thesis depicts all life of Li Rihua, make clear faction skeleton of surnamesLi. This thesis based on his life, comprehensively display various periods of hispolitical aspirations, the ideal of life, calligraphy and painting views, art advocates,try to show vivid details of literary intelligentsia image in late Ming dynasty. LiRihua had a lot of friends, teachers and students. But because of the chaos betweenMing and Qing Dynasty, many people lost their works. This thesis gets multilateralscouring character biographies and records to detaile them.Li Rihua adopted various forms and detailed records of calligraphy and paintingcomposition. The thiese is unable to write down one by one, but in order to showcaseLi Rihua’s skill of painting and calligraphy, there is a table to show painting andcalligraphy names. Important works of painting and calligraphy show in the thesis. In addition, the life of the Li Rihua and his friends can inspire the identification ofcontemporary art and collection now.Li Rihua had a lot of works, a total of twenty types, one hundred and thirtyvolumes. I read fifty various of them. On this basis, I clear up the context of hisworks, and collect almost all the preface and afterword.In a word, this thesis collects textual criticism of Li Rihua’s life stories, friendsand related materials. On the basis of the evidence, this thesis to display thebackground of Ming life, literature and arts, painting and calligraphy, and strive todescribe Li Rihua comprehensively.
