Objective:To explore the effect of Buyang Huanwu Decoction(BYHWD) on angiogenesis in rats after focal cerebral ischemia.Methods:The model of focal cerebral ischemia in rats was reproduced by middle cerebral artery occlusion.Rats were randomly divided into following groups including navie,shame-operated,ischemia, Buyang Huanwu Decoction(BYHWD), ED and BYHWD+ED groups.Animals were received BrdU-labeled and killed at 1,7,14 and 28 day point after operation.So the BYHW+ED groups.BrdU and vWF were measured by immunohistochemical staining.Result:1. There was a certain BrdU positive cells in normal brain, after cerebral ischemia BrdU positive cells were increased and reached the peak at 7 day.The expression of BrdU positive cells of ED groups were less than the others remarkably at the same time point(P<0.05).BYHWD can significantly increase the expression of BrdU.The increase was statistically significant at 7 and 14 day point after ischemia (P<0.05). The expression of BYHWD+ED groups was more than model and ED groups at 7 day time point(P<0.05),But less than BYHWD groups (P<0.05).2. There are some vWF positive expression in normal brain tissue.The expression of vWF were enhanced immediately after ischemia and reached the peak at 7 day after ischemia respectively.The expression of vWF positive cells of ED groups were less than model groups and the others remarkably at the same time point (P<0.05). BYHWD increased the expression numbers of vWF.This increase was statistically significant at 7 day point after ischemia compare to model groups (P<0.05). The expression of BYHWD+ED groups was more than model and ED groups at 7 and 14 day time points (P<0.05).3. There were obvious disfigurement of nerve function on rats which dealed for every group.The number of nerve function decreased gradually for life along.lt elucidate that there were refreshing abilities on rats of theirselves. Compared to the other groups,there was statistically significant on BY for decreasing the number of nerve function at 7 and 14 day points (P<0.05).The effection of decreasing nerve function number on BYHWD+ED was better than model and ED groups (P<0.05),but less than BYHWD (P<0.05). Conclusion:1. BYHWD may promote the angiogenesis in rats after focal cerebral ischemia.2. BYHWD can partly promote the angiogenesis which ED restrained.The result show that it affect ischemia by other ways.
