Objective: To investigate the level of HIF-1α、TGF-β1and VEGF in the serum ofgastric cancer patients with curative resection, and to explore the relationship of serumlevels of HIF-1, TGF-β1, VEGF and clinicopathological features. To compare thedifference of HIF-1α, TGF-β1, VEGF in serum level before adjuvant chemotherapyand after chemotherapy or pre-recurrence and post-recurrence. To find a predictivemarker in the serum of gastric cancer patients with curative resection, which could beused to predict relapse and metastasis. Methods: Clinical data of gastric cancer patients who unserwent curative resection andhad complete follow-up information from January2010to June2012were analyzed. To detect the expression of HIF-1α、TGF-β1and VEGF in the serum of all50patientson the28th days after curative resection and after6cycles adjuvant chemotherapy. Toexam the expression of HIF-1α、TGF-β1and VEGF in the serum of24patients withdistant metastasis. To compare the difference of HIF-1α, TGF-β1and VEGF in serumlevel before adjuvant chemotherapy and after chemotherapy, and, in pre-recurrence andpost-recurrence. To explore the relationship between the serum level of HIF-1α、TGF-β1、VEGF and clinicopathological features.Results:1. All of50patients had received6cycles adjuvant chemotherapy on the28thdays after curative resection,24of them were recurrence by the end of January2013.2.The serum level of HIF-1α、TGF-β1and VEGF in50patients on the28th days aftercurative resection was173.6±36.1pg/ml,308.1±49.2ng/ml and1136.7±148.7pg/mlrespectively. The serum level of HIF-1α、TGF-β1and VEGF in50patients after6cycles adjuvant chemotherapy was180.8±39.3pg/m,321.4±63.8ng/ml and1118.3±132.7pg/ml respectively. The level of HIF-1α, TGF-β1and VEGF had no significant difference before adjuvant chemotherapy and after chemotherapy, andpre-recurrence and post-recurrence (P>0.05).3. In the24patients with recurrence, theserum level of HIF-1α, TGF-β1and VEGF before recurrence was171.9±37.8pg/ml,308.1±54.3ng/ml and1134.5±143.7pg/ml respectively; the serum level of HIF-1α,TGF-β1and VEGF after recurrence was190.5±38.8pg/ml,339.5±87.6ng/ml and1190.7±144.6pg/ml respectively. There was significant difference for the serum levelof HIF-1α, TGF-β1before and after recurrence(P<0.05), but there was nosignificant difference for the serum level of VEGF(P>0.05).4. There was nosignificant difference between the serum level of HIF-1α, TGF-β1, VEGF andclinicopathological features (P>0.05).5. There was linear correlation the serumlevel of between HIF-1α, TGF-β1and VEGF.Conclusion: There was no significant difference between the serum level of HIF-1,TGF-β1, VEGF and clinicopathological features. The serum level of HIF-1α、TGF-β1increased after recurrence, and there was linear correlation between them. The serumlevel of HIF-1α、TGF-β1of gastric cancer with curative resection could be consideredas a predict marker for the recurrence.
