Objective:To investigate the psychological and social factors on depression patients.To study the differences between the young in-patients with depression and normal people in personality, family environment and parental rearing behaviors.To provide the basis of prevention and psychotherapy for the depression patients and improve the way of family education.Methods:A cross-sectional investigation were conducted in30patients (male14,female16,15to35years old)with depression from Sept2012to Jan2013,who were in hospital at Mental Health Centre of Shandong Province.All the patients with depression were accorded with the criteria of CCMD-3.Selected30people as the contrl group,whose age,sex and educational level were matching with the patients,but hadn’t chronic physical and mental disease.The questionnaires included demographic information,Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ),Family Environment Scale—Chinese version (FES-CV) and Egma Minnen av Bardndosnauppforstran (EMBU). Analyzing the data by STATA/SE10.0.Results:1. there was a significant difference in the parents’relationship between two groups (p<0.05)2. Significant differences were found in two factors of personality, such as Extraversion and Neuroticism between two groups (p<0.01)Significant differences were alse found in Family Cohesion, Family Conflict, Parents’Warm Feeling (FF1.MF1), Punishment and Sternness (FF2,MF4), Father’s Excessive Interference(FF3) between two groups (p<0.05)3. In Neuroticism factor of the non depression group,The only child significantly higher than non-only child (p<0.05)4. There were significant differences in Family Cohesion and Conflict between different parents’relationship (P<0.005)5. There were significant differences in Parents’Warm Feeling(FF1,MF1), Father’s Punishment and Sternness(FF2), Father’s Excessive Interference(FF3) and Father’s Denial (FF5) between different parents’relationship (P<0.05)6. Correlation analysis indicated that Psychoticism of depression group had significant correlation with Family Independence,Moral-Religious Emphasis,Father’s Warm Feeling(FF1) and Father’s Denial (FF5). Extraversion of depression group were negatively correlated with Mother’s Denial (MF3) and Punishment and Sternness(MF4)(P<0.05)7. Family Control and Conflict had negative correlation with Parents’Warm Feeling(FF1,MF1), and had positive correlation with Parents’ Punishment and Sternness(FF2,MF4), Parents’Denial (FF5,MF3),Father’s Excessive Interference(FF3).(P<0.05)Conclusions:Compared with normal people,Young in-patients with depression had higher instability of emotion,and were more introverted. Young in-patients with depression had worse family atmosphere,such as bad parents’ relationship,high family conflict, lacking of love and understanding,more punishment and interference from parents; Parents’ relationship influenced family environment and the way how they treat their child.Family environment was more positive when the parents had harmonious relationship,they alse would treat the child in better way then; Family environment had correlation with parental rearing patterns, harmonious family environment always associate with positive rearing patterns; The only-child’s instability of emotion was higher than non-only child in normal people.
