Objective: Adolescence depression is a very common mental disease with highrecurrence rate, higher suicide rate, and serious damage to the abilities of social function,the incidence of which has been growing year after year. Though influencing factors andtreatments have been studied for a long time, there is controversial about the effect ofparental rearing style and adolescent life events on depression and the associationbetween parental rearing style and adolescent life events has not been studied yet. Thisstudy aimed to investigate the common features of parental rearing style and lifestressful events of adolescence depression using egna minnen barndoms uppfostran(EMBU) and Adolescents Self-Rating Life Event Check List(ASLEC), The study alsoanalyzed the influence factors and explored the social psychological factors which mayaffect the onset of adolescence depression and further probed the role of the socialpsychological factors in adolescence depression.Method: A total of80hospital outpatients diagnosed with adolescent depressionbetween12-22years old were selected, including46males and34female.60matchedhealthy adolescents were chosen, including30males and30females. The demographiccharacteristics, Adolescents Self-Rating Life Event Check List, Hamilton Rating Scalefor Depression and egna minnen barndoms uppfostran were used to investigate theinformation of the subjects. The data were recorded and analyzed by SPSS13.0. All thesubjects completed the questionnaires with informed consent and full cooperation.Results:(1) The score of EMBU factors between experimental group and controlgroup: There were significant differences in factors parental punishment and sternness, rejection, excessive interference, overprotection and father’s favoritism between thetwo groups; After categorized by sex,,overprotection, rejection and denial of father andexcessive interference, overprotection of mother were different between the case andcontrol group with statistical significance in male group. While in female group, therewere significant differences in factors parental rejection, excessive interference,overprotection and mother’s punishment and sternness between the case and controlgroup.(2) The score of ASCLE factors between experimental group and control group: Therewere significant differences in factors study pressure, interpersonal relationships,punished, health and adaptation and others between the two groups. After categorizedby sex, in female group, the results are consistent with the all cases group. In malegroup, study pressure, punishment, health and adaptation and others were differentbetween the case and control group with statistical significance.(3) The relevance analysis between the factors of life event as well as parental rearingstyle and sex, literacy,course of disease and parents’ education in the adolescentdepression patients: there was no relation between sex and life event or parental rearingstyle; literacy and parental favoritism were significant correlation; there weresignificant correlation between parental favoritism, emotional warmth, study pressureand course of diseases;here were also significant correlation between the father’seducation and father’s emotional warmth.(4) The relevance analysis between parental rearing style and life events in theadolescent depression patients: There were significant correlation between theirmother’s excessive interference, overprotection and study pressure. There weresignificant correlation between the interpersonal relationships and their parentalemotional warmth, excessive interference, overprotection, rejection as well as theirmother’s punishment severe. There were significant correlation between the punishedand their parental excessive interference, overprotection, punishment severe as well as rejection. There were significant correlations between the health adaptation and theirmother’s excessive interference, overprotection, punishment severe as well as rejection.There were significant correlations between the others and their parental excessiveinterference, overprotection, punishment severe as well as rejection.(5) The multiple linear regressions between parental rearing style and life events in theadolescent depression patients: The ASCLE’s total scores could be predicted by theirmother’s rearing behaviors of excessive interference and overprotection. The factors ofASCLE could also be predicted by their parental rearing behaviors (The interpersonalrelationships could be predicted by their parental rejection and mother’s excessiveinterference, overprotection; the punished could be predicted by their parentalpunishment sternnes and mother’s excessive interference, overprotection; the health andadaptation could be predicted by their father’s excessive interference; the others couldbe predicted by their parental punishment sternnes and mother’s excessive interference,overprotection).Conclusions Parental rearing style and negative life events were associated with theonset adolescent depression. Parents chose the rearing styles of punishment, rejection,excessive interference and overprotection too much, and parental favoritism was alsothe risk factor in non-only child families. The negative life events of study presure,interpersonal relationships, punished, health and adaptation were related to the onset ofadolescent depression. Meanwhile, there were correlation between negative life eventsand parental rearing style,.
