Objective: To investigate the levels and clinical significance of serumleptin and IL-6in female patients with lupus nephritis (LN).Methods:78female patients with LN were recruited in the AffiliatedHospital of North Sichuan Medical College. The SLE disease activity index(SLEDAI) score was used to assess disease activity in the patients with LN.The78patients were divided into two groups, the inactive group (32cases)and active group (46cases). Forty matched healthy volunteers were selectedas normal controls group. Concentrations of serum leptin and IL-6weremeasured by Enzyme linked immunosorbent essay (ELISA).The methods ofstatistical analysis include independent samples T test, linear correlation andmultiple linear regression analysis.Results:1. Serum leptin and IL-6in LN group were higher than the healthycontrol group(P<0.01); Serum leptin and IL-6in the active group werehigher than that in the inactive group(P<0.01). Serum leptin and IL-6in theinactive LN group were higher than the healthy control group (P>0.05).2. Serum leptin and IL-6was correlated significantly with erythrocytesedimentation rate (ESR), c-reactive protein, ds-DNA antibody, Resistance ofnucleosome antibodies (AnuA), Anti-C1q antibody, SLEDAI score,24-hoururine protein and creatinine (P<0.05), negative correlation with complement3(C3), C4, endogenous creatinine clearance rate(Ccr)(P<0.05). There waspositively relationship between serum leptin and IL-6(P<0.01). Serum leptin and IL-6was the impact factor of SLEDAI score(P<0.01). Serum leptin wasthe impact factor of Ccr(P<0.05).Conclusion: Leptin and IL-6take part in the progress of LN. Thedynamic observation of the levels of serum leptin and IL-6contributes tojudge treatment effectiveness and prognosis.
