Objective: Empathy is complicated social cognition. Researchindicates that empathy deficiency is one of the main performances offunctional cognitive damages for schizophrenia. However, thecharacteristics of empathy deficiency have been still debating, whichneed to be testified scientifically. The thesis adopts longitudinal study toanalyze the relationship of capacity for empathy, mental symptom andsocial disability and some other neuropsychology measuring results, inorder to investigate the features of empathy deficiency. We also focus onchanges of empathy capacity before and after treatment of atypicalantipsychotics, going further into influence of clinical symptoms andsocial ability recoveery for empathy deficiency of schizophrenia. And forthat case,the study will provide theoretical foundation for interventiontechnique, and we hope it to be significant reference for setting up healthycommunicative relationships and patients’ recovery.Methods: From2011to2013, Mental hospital of Changchun haschosen30first-episode schizophrenia inpatients (male15, female15) and30normal control patients as study objects. All selected patients havebeen used olanzapine, risperidone and some other new antipsychotics forthree months. I RI-C,,PANSS, SSPI have separately the before and afterlevel of empathy, mental symptom and the social ability. The study aimedat measuring empathy, clinical symptoms and social function before andafter treatment through comparing studying on schizophrenia group andnormal control group. To compare changes of each measurement indicators, researchers will be focus on empathy features of schizophreniaand effects of medication and by further analyze the relation of empathy,clinical symptoms and social function.Results:1. Testing scores of normal control group are much more higher than thatof the first-episode schizophrenia;2. As the three-month-new-antipsychotic treatment, patients’ ability ofempathy has been increased, and mental symptoms have beenimproved and to some extent the social function has been recovered;3. Empathy and PANSS Negative Syndrome of first-episodeschizophrenia before and after treatment of reveals negativecorrelation.Conclusion:First-episode schizophrenia exist empathy deficiency, New atypicalantipsychotic drugs can greatly improve empathy, mental symptoms andsocial function; negative symptoms of first-episode schizophrenia couldbe refined as the empathy ability being improved.
