Being one of the most favorite foods for many Tibetans, butter tea has become apart of their daily life. It is composed of butter, brick tea water and salt. Butter tea is asort of high fat food and its influence on blood lipid and lipid metabolism relatedorgans has seldom been studied and reported till today. Objective This study focuses on the influence of butter tea on SD rat’s bloodlipid and relevant organs. Methods We carried out the research by choosing96healthy SD rats (200g±20g), half male and half female, and divided them into8groups which we called the blank group, high lipid group, tea water group, salt watergroup, high butter,s concentration group, low butter,s concentration group, highbutter tea,s concentration group and low butter tea,s concentration group respectively. There are12rats in each group. We gave the SD rat’s intragastric administration ofspecific butter tea (3.6ml for each) at the same time every morning and weighed themevery10days. Serum triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high densitylipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)were measured with enzymatic method. The index of SD rat’s liver, kidney, and heartwas calculated and the structure of these organs was observed by means of HEstaining. We detected low density lipoprotein receptor (LDL-R) by theimmunohistochemical methods in SD rat’s liver, kidney and heart and counted thepositive expression cells by Image–proplus6.0software. The obtained data wererepresented by average numbers plus standard deviation and processed by SPSS17.0Statistics. One-way analysis of variance was used when comparing the data of severalgroups. Results TG, TC, LDL-C and HDL-C of the high butter tea,s concentrationgroup and low butter tea,s concentration group were of no significant differences compared with the blank group(P>0.05). TG, TC and LDL-C of the high butter tea,s concentration group and low butter tea,s concentration group were of remarkablylower than those of the high lipid group (P﹤0.01). HDL-C of the high butter tea, sconcentration group and low butter tea,s concentration group was of no significantdifferences compared with the high lipid group (P﹥0.05). HDL-C of the blank group, salt water group, high butter,s concentration group and low butter,s concentrationgroup was of remarkably lower than those of the high lipid group(P﹤0.05). The liverindex of the high butter tea,s concentration group and low butter tea,s concentrationgroup were much lower than that of the high lipid group (P﹤0.01) and was of nosignificant differences compared with that of other groups (P﹥0.05). The kidneyindex of the low butter tea,s concentration group was higher than that of the blankgroup (P﹤0.05). The heart index is of no significant difference among all groups (P﹥0.05). The HE staining results indicated that the liver structure of the high buttertea,s concentration group and low butter tea,s concentration group were normal. In theliver of the high butter,s concentration group and the high lipid group, the hepatocytebecomed bigger, the hepatic cord gap becomed more narrow and the lipid dropletswere found in the hepatocyte. The structure of kidney or heart showed no remarkableabnormal among all groups. LDL-R positive expression hepatocytes in the high buttertea,s concentration group, low butter tea,s concentration group and low lipid groupwere remarkably higher than that of the blank group (P﹤0.01). LDL-R positiveexpression cells number in of the high lipid group is much lower than that of othergroups(P﹤0.01). LDL-R positive expression cells of the renal tubule epithelial cellsin the high butter tea,s concentration group and low butter tea,s concentration groupwere remarkably lower than that of the high lipid group (P﹤0.01).High butter, sconcentration group, low butter,s concentration group and salt water group wereremarkably higher than that of the blank group(P﹤0.01). There were no LDL-Rpositive expression cells in the heart of8groups.Conclusion Intragastric administration of butter tea during a short period oftime didn’t influence the blood lipid of SD rat’s. Intragastric administration of butter tea during a short period of time reduced the blood LDL by means of promotingLDL-R positive result of SD rat’s liver cells. Intragastric administration of butter teaduring a short period of time didn’t influence the structure of kidney and heart of SDrat’s.
