Hydrocolloid dressing is a medical wounded material, which is prepared by base material of hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive and hydrocolloid. It mainly uses in dermatology and surgical wound, has a good effect in ostomy, bedsore and infectious ulcer. However, this functionality dressing’s markets and profits have been monopolized by Coloplast of Denmark, Alcare of Japan, Hollister and Squibb of USA. Domestic product is at the beginning. The research of the hydrocolloid dressing has an important significance for China to break the monopoly of foreign technology and improve people’s living condition.In this paper, the two areas of pressure sensitive adhesives and absorbent polymer were studied. The content range of hydrocolloid was determined by the absorption capacity of the sodium carboxymethyl cellulose and the domestic and foreign products’ absorption capacity. The best proportion of natural rubber, rosin glycerin ester and dioctyl phthalate in natural rubber based hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive (HMPSA) was studied by different performance of the tack and shear holding power of hydrocolloid dressing using performance equivalent method.The effect of the mass ratio of SIS, high molecular weight polyisobutylene, medium molecular weight polyisobutylene, C5petroleum resin and naphthenic oil in SIS based HMPSA on the tack and shear holding power of hydrocolloid dressing was optimized using orthogonal experimental method. The dispersion of hydrocolloid powder in pressure sensitive adhesive matrix was studied by scanning electron microscopy. On this basis, the influence of the amount of cross-linked CMC, pectin and gelatin on the characterization of absorbency and integrity was discussed. The influence of the amount of SiO2and PVP-VA on the characterization of flexibility, integrity, wet sticky was discussed.Through the above research, the hydrocolloid dressing can get best performance by using SIS HMPSA and the hydrocolloid of CMC and cross linked CMC. The performance was listed as follows:the tack:5.98cm, shear holding power:29min, water absorption capacity:4,937g/m2, integrity:88%. After three days of human skin test, the instantaneous tack was4.6. The flexibility was4.5.The pain was4.2and there was little residual on the skin when the hydrocolloid dressing was removed. Hydrocolloid dressing was no stimulation basically. Posted fold of dressing was small. Compared with domestic products, the performance of experimental sample improved greatly.The work of this paper provided certain guidance for preparation of hydrocolloid dressing’s formulation and process.We explored different raw materials’influence on the performance of dressing, which provided a certain reference for raw materials choice in industrial production.
