To investigate Neopallasia pectinatas activity site, Neopallasia pectinata was treated with ethanol reflux extraction and then progressively leached with petroleum ether, N-Butanol and ethyl acetate to get petroleum ether extracts, ethyl acetate extracts, N-Butanol extracts and Jellyfish liquid extracts. By studying the in vivo and in vitro bacteriostastic effect of aqueous together with other4extracts against E.Coli, S.aureus, Salmonella and Streptococcus, the ethyl acetate extracts is significantly improving the protection ratio of mouse mortality because of the pathological changes caused by S.aureus(p<0.01); the MIC and MBC of ethyl acetate layer are more than0.125g/ml and0.25g/ml respectively and the counterpart of N-Butanol layer is0.03125g/ml,0.0625g/ml and0.0625g/ml,0.125g/ml against S.aureus and streptococcus respectively. The ethyl acetate and N-Butanol layer has significant inhibiting effect, however, the petroleum ether and jellyfish liquid extracts only possess a limited bacteriostatic effect. Following is the effect of the extracts on various pathological changes of the mouse.1. antiphlogistic and analgesic experiment and the effect on the increased capillary penetration induced by acetic acid:both high and low dose of petroleum ether and ethyl acetate or aqueous extracts from Neopallasia pectinata can inhibit the tumidness and the pigment infiltration in abdominal cavity of the mouse (p<0.05or p<0.01);.2. The effect of Neopallasia pectinata extracts on the tumidness of mouse ears induced by dimethylbenzene:both high and low dose of extracts with petroleum ether、ethyl acetate or aqueous extracts can obviously reduce the status of tumidness (p<0.05or p<0.01);3. The effect of extracts on granuloma of the mouse induced by tampon:both high and low dose of petroleum ether、 ethyl acetate or aqueous extracts can obviously reduce the granuloma of the mouse (p<0.05or p<0.01);4. The effect of extracts on the tumidness of rat toes induced by formaldehyde:both high and low dose of the petroleum ether extracts、ethyl acetate or aqueous extracts can obviously inhibit the inflammation and local tumidness (p<0.05or p<0.01);5. The effect on the quantity of body wrest caused by acetic acid of the mouse: high dose of N-Butanol, petroleum ethyer or ethyl acetate extracts can significantly reduce the quantity of body wrest (p<0.05).6. The effect on the maximum analgesic percentage of hot-plate:the aqueous, jellyfish liquid, N-Butanol, petroleum ether and ethyl acetate extracts own no influence on the maximum analgesic percentage of hot-plate (p<0.05).7. The effect on the model of moist and febrile symptom of liver and gallbladder induced by a-naphthyl isothiocyanate (ANIT) and the effect on the serum liver function of normal or model mouse:the activity of serum ALT. AST、 TBIL、 ALP、GGT of the group with high or low dose of aqueous or petroleum ether and ethyl acetate extracts is significantly lower than the model group (the group of ANIT model)(p<0.05or p<0.01);8. The effect on the oxidation and antioxidation of the liver tissue:the activity of the liver SOD of groups with high or low dose of aqueous, petroleum ether and ethyl acetate extracts is significantly higher than that of the model group (p<0.01); the quantity of liver MDA of the group with high or low dose of ethyl acetate extracts and aqueous and petroleum ether extracts are obviously lower than the model group (p<0.05or p<0.01); both groups with high or low dose of;9. The effect of Neopallasia pectinata extracts on the histopathological changes of the liver of model mouse induced by ANIT:the aqueous, ethyl acetate and petroleum ether extracts are of the capacity of alleviating the lesion and facilitating renovation of liver, while the extracts with N-Butanol and jellyfish liquid don’t have that function. It is suggested that the ethyl acetate and N-Butanol extracts are the dominant component responsible for in vitro bacteriostasis; the functional composition of Neopallasia pectinata mainly reside within the ethyl acetate extracts and other substances possess limited activity. The antiphlogistic activity mainly locates in the aqueous, ethyl acetate and petroleum ether extracts. Petroleum ether, ethyl acetate and N-Butanol extracts can alleviate peripheral on pain but be of no effect on central pain. Concerning the ANIT induced model, the aqueous, ethyl acetate and petroleum ether extracts can alleviate symptoms and be helpful in renovation significantly, thus they are the main therapeutic factors for moist and febrile symptom of the liver and gallbladder.
