Correlation Study Of TCM Pattern, Age,Gender And Recurrence About Pterygium In Western Yunnan

ObjectivesIn order to explore the pathogenesis of pterygium in the western part of Yunnan province, we made some analysis of the relationships between its TCM pattern, gender, age and postoperative recurrence. Then we analysis them to make the basis of the prevention and control of pterygium in western Yunnan. So we can try to find out a new method of recurrent pterygium.MethodsWe collected176pterygial patients from Chuxiong fuming eye hospital during January2010to December2011. We observed their gender, age, eyes and postoperative situation. We analyse the patients by different eyes, sex, ages, and their relationships. According to the pattern TCM. patients were divided into3patterns:syndrome of wind-heat invading lung, spleen-stomach heat and yin deficiency resulting in rampant fire. We made the differences of the composition of the patient with different card type, age and sex, and the relationships between them. Then we applied different herbal treatment to suit the patterns. We recruited Gardenia Super Miraculous Powder to cure syndrome of wind-heat invading lung, and xie re chu pi yin to cure syndrome of spleen-stomach heat, zhi bo di huang wan to cure syndrome of yin deficiency resulting in rampant fire. Then made use of bear gallbladders eye drops three times a day, compound houttuynia cordata eye drops three times a day. We did the operation three days later. After the operation, the patients needed to observe a week in hospital. They needed to review that if stem cells grow good in3d,7d,1months and3months after they leaved hospital. We calculated the recurrence rate of pterygium to analysis its incidence and related factors of recurrence in order to search the control method in the western part of Yunnan province.Results and DiscussionThrough the analysis between postoperative and perspective of the176patients of pterygium, we make some results:in the study of176patients with pterygium, the number of patients with one eye is more than patients who with two eyes. The number of female is more than male. Mainly is51-70year olds, followed by31-50years old. and then over the age of71patients, only a few patients is below-30years. The number of the syndrome of wind-heat invading lung and spleen-stomach heat are lesser than the number of yin deficiency resulting in rampant fire. The comparison between age, eyes, sex and card type of TCM have no statistical significance.ConclusionThrough the analysis of176cases of patients in Western part of Yunnan, we find that the number of patients with one eye is more than patients who with two eyes. But it could make the foundation to analysis the factors in the later research.There are long time sunshine, strong ultraviolet ray, much wind and sand, and dry climate in Western part of Yunnan. We should pay enough attention to this people who working long time in outdoors. The recurrent pterygium of West Yunnan area:there are five patients recurred in176patients. The recurrence rate was2.8%. Tip that the stem cell transplantation in cornea margin which can be in high altitude in the West Yunnan area extensively.
