| The TCM constitutions are the comprehensive, relatively stable traits of morphology, physiology, and psychological status, etc. during individual life process, on the basis of heredity and acquired during life. These traits determine the susceptibility to pathogenicity factors and the tendentiousness of lesions types. Insomnia is in the sleeping environment people cannot sleep normally, mainly manifested by difficulty in falling asleep or remaining asleep, waking up too early, and cannot feel recovery after sleeping, which may causes bodily dysfunction and obvious discomfort. Insomnia belongs to "sleeplessness" in TCM, and also named as "no sleeping","less sleeping","hard to fall asleep", etc.The constitution of body affects the syndrome, incidence, treatment and prognosis of insomnia. This research paper focus on the studies of constitutions of insomniac, understand the disposition of different constitutions, with Syndrome Elements Differentiation method find out the syndrome of insomnia and by statistics analysis find out the relevance, which will play a good role on prevention, controlling, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of insomnia.Purpose:Through the theoretical studies and clinical investigations of insomnia patients, try to find out the relevance between constitutions of body and syndromes. Through the Syndrome factor identification system, to identify syndromes of insomnia objectively, to summarize the types of insomnia patients’constitution, to search relevance between insomnia patients’constitutions and syndromes, and to provide a basis for constitution differentiation, disease differentiation and syndrome differentiation, and to improve the clinical efficacy.Processes:Extensively bound the relevant literature, studied the characteristics of constitutions, the relevance between constitutions and syndromes, the relevance between constitutions and diseases, and the advances in Insomnia Research. On clinical investigations, did a "The TCM constitutions questionnaire" by using WANG Qi’s nine kinds of TCM constitutions, and identified the syndromes of insomnia patients by syndrome factor dialectical method. Then, determined the constitutions and identified the syndromes of150insomnia patients in Fuzhou city who has met the diagnostic criterion of insomnia, and studied on the disposition of constitutions, characteristics of syndromes, and the relevance between constitutions of body and syndromes.Result:1ã€General conditions of insomnia patients:Effective cases are149insomnia patients who have met the diagnostic criterion of insomnia:74.50%are senior,65.10%are female (with a statistical difference P=0.001<0.05), and more mental worker (71.81%) then manual worker (with a statistical difference P=0.001<0.05).2ã€Researches on the TCM constitutions of insomnia patients:In these149insomnia patients, Qi Stagnation constitution (25.96%), Qi Deficiency constitution (18.28%) and Yang Deficiency constitution (12.77%), Dampness-heat constitution (10.64%), Yin Deficiency constitution (9.36%), Blood stasis constitution (8.08%), Phlegm-dampness constitution (6.38%), peaceful constitution (5.11%), Allergic constitution (3.4%), all statistics with a statistical difference P=0.001<0.05.3ã€Researches on the TCM syndromes of insomnia patients:In these149insomnia patients, Qi Deficiency (21.53%), Yin Deficiency (19.17%), Phlegm-dampness(15.04%), Blood Deficiency (15.04%), Qi Stagnation (10.91%), Yang Deficiency (8.26%), Dampness-heat (3.24%), fiery-heat (2.65%), Blood-stasis (2.06%) and No syndrome (2.06%), all statistics with a statistical difference P=0.001<0.05.4ã€The relevance between TCM constitution and TCM syndromesThe Qi Stagnation constitution is mostly related to Qi Deficiency, Qi Stagnation, Yin Deficiency and Phlegm-dampness syndrome (P<0.05); the Qi Deficiency constitution is mostly related to Qi Deficiency, Phlegm-dampness syndrome and Blood Deficiency (P<0.05); the Yang Deficiency constitution is mostly related to Qi Deficiency and Yang Deficiency (P<0.05); the Dampness-heat constitution is mostly related to Phlegm-dampness syndrome(P<0.05); the Yin Deficiency constitution is mostly related to Yin Deficiency, Phlegm-dampness syndrome and Blood Deficiency (P<0.05); the Blood stasis constitution is mostly related to Qi Stagnation and Blood stasis (P<0.05). There is no obvious relevance between constitutions of Phlegm-dampness, allergic type and peaceful type with syndromes (P>0.05).Conclusions:1ã€In these149cases, the main constitution types of insomnia patients are mostly Qi Stagnation constitution, Qi Deficiency constitution and Yang Deficiency constitution.2ã€In these149cases, the main syndromes of insomnia patients are Qi Deficiency, Yin Deficiency, Phlegm-dampness, and Blood Deficiency.3ã€According to these149cases, there is a close relevance between TCM constitutions and syndromes of insomnia patients:the Qi Stagnation constitution is mostly related to Qi Deficiency, Qi Stagnation, Yin Deficiency and Phlegm-dampness syndrome; the Qi Deficiency constitution is mostly related to Qi Deficiency, Phlegm-dampness syndrome and Blood Deficiency; the Yang Deficiency constitution is mostly related to Qi Deficiency and Yang Deficiency; the Dampness-heat constitution is mostly related to Phlegm-dampness syndrome; the Yin Deficiency constitution is mostly related to Yin Deficiency, Phlegm-dampness syndrome and Blood Deficiency; the Blood stasis constitution is mostly related to Qi Stagnation and Blood stasis. |
