ObjectiveThis observation aimed to observe Jielongwenbi Decoction in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis(RA) with Cold and Dampness Syndromes about the clinical efficacy and safety. We used TCM symptom complex score and EULAR DAS28standards to estimate the curative effect. The observation provided a basis in order to optimize a treatment of RA with Cold and Dampness Syndromes by combining TCM and western medicine therapy together.MethodsThe observation were included72patients with RA met the preliminary criteria, used a random, open, parallel, comparative trial. The72cases were randomly divided into two groups, the observation group and the control group both comprised36cases. The observation period lasted3months. During the observation period, the control group was treated by MTX, LEF, and Diclofenac. Based on the treatment of the control group, the observation group was added to oral Jielongwenbi Decoction. Before and after treatment, recorded the two groups about clinical symptoms and signs, RF, anti-CCP, ESR, CRP, TCM symptom complex score, EULAR DAS28standards, and other outcome measures, as well as blood routine, urine routine, fecal routine, liver function, kidney function, ECG, and other security indicators. After statistical analysis, we could certify the clinical efficacy and safety of the decoction.ResultsThe study included72patients with rheumatoid arthritis, and eventually completed67cases(drop-out rate=6.9%). The observation group included34casesand the control group included33cases.After treatment, the number of swollen joints, joint tenderness number, overall self-evaluation, CRP, ESR, RF, DAS28score, TCM symptom complex score within the two groups has improved significantly (P<0.05). The anti-CCP of all cases were not changed before and after treatment.Between the two groups, the number of swollen joints, joint tenderness number, CRP, RF had no significant differences (P>0.05). The improvements of the observation group’s overall self-evaluation, ESR, DAS28score, TCM symptom complex score were significantly better than the control group’s (P<0.05).Before and after treatment, the DAS28curative effect and TCM symptom curative effect of the observation group presented a significant difference to the control group’s (P<0.01). Furthermore, there was no significant difference between the two groups’ rate of adverse reactions (P>0.05).ConclusionsUse Jielongwenbi Decoction combine with western medicine to treat RA with Cold and Dampness Syndromes is much better than the pure western medicine therapy. The former is able to improve patients’ self-evaluation, ESR, DAS28score and TCM symptom. It does not increase the incidence of adverse reactions, also. Therefore, the treatment of RA with Cold and Dampness Syndromes by Jielongwenbi Decoction is proved to be effective and secure.
