Study On Chemical Constituents Of The Branch Of Nerium Indicum Mill

Nerium indicum Mill (synonyms; Nerium indicum; Nerium odorum)(Apocyaceae) is amedium-sized evergreen flowering tree of2—5m in height and is planted throughout Chinaand Japan as garden and roadside trees. N. oleander was originally distributed in theMediterranean region, sub-tropical Asia, and the Indo-Pakistan subcontinent Many of thespecies in the Apocynaceae are medicinal plants, such as anticancer Catharanthus,, loweringblood pressure rauvolfia, and so on.Nerium indicum Mill. is one of the species with medical function in the Neriumodorum．Its stems and twings have long been used as traditional medicine because of itsantibacterial, anticancer, antidote, antileprotic, and cardiotonic properties. In order to exploremuch more pharmacological constituents of Nerium oleander，this thesis systematically andthoroughly studied the chemical constituents of the stems and twings of N. oleander.．Thechemical constituents of EtOAc and Hexane extracts were respectively isolated by means ofsilica gel column chromatography(cc)， preparative thin layer column(PTLC) andrecrystallization etc，and20compounds were obtained. the structures of20compounds wereelucidated on the basis of modern spectroscopic methods：IR,1D NMR(1H NMR,13C NMR),along with comparison with authentic samples or the data from literature. They wereidentified as limonoid-type triterpenes，coumarins，and steroides etc．In addition, Contents oftrace elements and heavy metals in Nerium oleander were analyzed by ICP-MS，The resultsalso show that the concentrations of8trace heavy metal elements in Nerium oleander are alllower than the1imits of Chinese Pharmacopoeia and Green Trade Standard for Importing andExporting Medicinal Plant and Preparation. The trace As and Pb of it, however, are not inaccordance with the more stringent restrictions of FDA.The results of the investigation were expected to enrich the database of natural products，to afford the scientific basis of pharmacology chemotaxonomy and screening of newmedicines，and to help the utilization of the Chinese natural resources well as the research ofChinese herbal modernization．...
