Spectrum Analysis Of135Cases Oral And Maxillofacial Malignant Lymphoma

Objective: To investigate its early clinical characteristics of135cases in the oral andmaxillofacial lymphoma, to enhance awareness of the disease, and to improve early thediagnostic information for its early diagnosis. Methods: Clinical data of135cases wereobtained from the department of Maxillofacial surgery, Hematology, ENT, Oncology fromJanuary2002to June2011in First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University,retrospective analyze the data, according to the age, sex, the first part, pathologyclassification, clinical stage in statistical analysis. Results:1) Gender agecomposition:Among the tatal of135cases malignant lymphoma in a9-year period, theratio of male/female was2.75:1, and median age of the patients was47.80±2.36(range,14～86years old);2) Affected anatomic sites included:neck (29), submandibular andsubmental area (18), tonsil (15) and nasopharynx (13), palate (12), parotid gland (9);3)Clinical stages and Pathology classification: the most common clinical were stage Ⅰ andⅡ patients, followed by Phase Ⅲ, Ⅳ stage at least;3cases of Hodgkin’s lymphoma(2.2%), non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma was132cases (97.8%); B cell lymphoma95(83%),T-cell malignant lymphoma37(17%);4) Misdiagnosis:The rate of misdiagnosis was60.00%(excluding the cases which can not confirm the diagnosis), the rate of clinicalmisdiagnosis was55.56%; The rate of pathological misdiagnosis was4.44%. Conclusions:Oral and maxillofacial mal1gnant lymphoma was often misdiagnosed for other commonoral diseases. For clinical symptoms suspected of lymphoma, diagnosis should becombined with the ultrasound, CT scan which provide relevant information, early biopsy.
