Objective:1) In this study, by using orthogonal experiment method optimize testingconditions of phthalate esters substances in the peripheral water pipe network of Urumqidetected by GC-MS,we would like to establish a qualitative and quantitative analyticalmethod to determine phthalate esters of organic pollutants in drinking water by solid phaseextraction-GC.2) We use the determined best solid phase extraction and concentrationmethods for water samples prior to processing,the water was collected from UrumqiHongyanchi, urban construction shares,three Yong monument, and then give a qualitativeand quantitative analysis on its phthalate esters of organic pollutants,meanwhile,analyzethe possible sources of pollution that provide a scientific basis for the prevention ofphthalate esters of organic pollution, and examine the effect of removing the phthalateesters of organic pollutants in current water treatment processes.3) We want to understandthe current situation of organic pollutants of the source of Urumqi River GlacierNo.1,analyze the organic pollutants of phthalate esters and possible sources ofpollution.Methods: At first,we adopt solid-phase extraction pretreatment and GC-MS todetermine10kinds of phthalate esters (PAEs), optimize the extraction conditions for thethree main factors which are solid phase extraction column, eluent,elution time,affect thesolid-phase extraction,and during the optimizing we take the orthogonal experiment. Afterthat we take a solid-phase extraction pretreatment of the water sample that from in andfinished water of Urumqi and20L water samples of Glacier No.1with the optimizedmethod, concentrated water samples, eluted, evaporated to dryness, and the last toconstant volume with hexane to1mL. Comparing the obtained mass spectra that after theGC/MS detection with NIS2005library search, we can determine the properties of thedetected compounds, compound standard curve based on standard substance, and calculatethe concentration of the esters of o-phenylene in the in and finished water of the three water works of Urumqi and Glacier No.1, moreover, determine the major types oforganic matter in the source water of the glacier No.1. Results: We can get the bestextraction conditions from the orthogonal experiment, and the conditions list as follows,solid phase extraction is the HLB column,the eluent is the ethyl acetate, and set elutiontime as25minutes,at the same time identify correlation coefficient (0.990~0.998) of10kinds of PAEs, the minimum detection limit (0.03μg/L), recovery rate (71.67%to84.67%). We have determined the concentration of10kinds of phthalate esters in the inand finished water of three water works of Urumqi, and source water of Glacier No.1,from our research,we find that the concentration of the dibutyl phthalate was higher inthe source water and the Urumqi City waterworks,and the value has been beyond thelimits of China’s " drinking water health standards"(GB5749-2006)0.003mg/L, a largenumber of studies have shown that it has a variety of toxic and harmful effects. In addition,diethyl phthalate, di-(2-ethyl hexyl)phthalate, phthalate-ethyl-2--ethyl hexyl esterwithin the China’s " drinking water health standards "(to GB5749a2006) did not exceedtheir limits. The remaining organic matter in the water is currently no limit, and thecontent is relatively high, such as Adjacent benzene two formic acid cyclo hexyl ester andso on. When refer to the removal rate, we can see that the phthalate esters removalcapacity of the three water works is significantly poor, although the removal effect ofurban construction shares waterworks is better than in Hongyanchi water plants and threeYong monument. Compared with other alpine glaciers, types of organic pollutants in thesource water of Glacier No.1is relative small,even now there are three categories oforganic matter in the source water of Glacier No.1, a total of13kinds.Conclusion: Thismethod had advantages of good linear correlation, high precision, good accuracy, suitablefor determination of trace PAEs. Undoubtedly,there are certain pollution of the esters ofo-phenylene esters in the source water of Urumqi, the capacity of remove organicpollutants is obviously insufficient in water treatment process of these water works, andwe hope that in the future they can improve themselves, making the quality of drinkingwater better as soon as possible.Glacier No.1is also subject to certain organic pollutants,especially the pollution of the phthalate esters.
