Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy and explore possible mechanism on Bi Zheng Ning combined with Methotrexate in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (Fenghanshi syndrome).Methods:60selected patients with rheumatoid arthritis were randomly divided into treatment group (31cases),the control group (29cases), patients in the treatment group were administered with Bi Zheng Ning united Methotrexate, while those in the control group treated with Methotrexate and Leflunomide. Total therapeutic course were both12weeks, using the United States Institute of Rheumatology issued by the ACR criteria to evaluate the effieacy. And to compare the improvement of symptoms, signs, laboratory index and toxicity before and after treatment.Results:1. After12weeks’treatment, the percentage of patients achieving ACR20\ACR50in the treatment group (77.4%,41.9%) was significantly higher than that of control group(51.7%、13.8%)(P <0.05), but the percentage of patients achieving ACR70in the treatment group (22.6%) was no difference with that of control group (6.9%)(P>0.05).2. After12weeks’treatment, the DAS28scores of two group decreased significantly than pre-treatment (P<0.05), but there was no difference between treatment group and control group (P>0.05).3. After12weeks’treatment, symptoms、signs、ESR、CRP、 RF、anti-CCP、IL-17、IL-4of treatment group had significantly improved than pre-treatment (P<0.05), and symptoms、signs、ESR、 RF、IL-17、IL-4of control group had also significantly improved than pre-treatment (P<0.05), but there were no difference in CRP anti-CCP of control group (P>0.05); In improving the symptoms、 signs、ESR、IL-17、IL-4, the treatment group are better than the control group (P<0.05), but in improving CRP、RF、anti-CCP, there were no differences (P>0.05)4. There were fewer side effects and less combination use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in the treatment group than the control group. Conclusion:Bi Zheng Ning on treating rheumatoid arthritis (Fenghanshi syndrome) was effective, could significantly improve the symptoms、 signs, reduce IL-17, increase IL-4, and its side effects were fewer and milder, which provided a theoretical basis for further clinical studies.
