Deciduous caries is one of the most prevalent oral diseases in children. Not only oral region but also facial and other system of the body can be affected by deciduous caries. At present, the report of epidemiological investigation about preschool children is not sufficient. Part One describes the primary teeth caries status of preschool children in suburban areas of Nanjing. The prevalence of primary teeth caries is always in a high level and it is influenced by diet, oral hygiene, socioeconomic status and other factors. Using questionnaire completed by parents, Part Two is to investigate the associated factors of caries of3-5-year-old children in suburban areas of Nanjing, explore the same and different points among urban and suburban areas of Nanjing, Part Two also provide scientific basis for oral health care service in Nanjing. In the third part, the effect on remineralization of enamel were compared between fluoride and casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate complexes. Studies on the mechanism of remineralization aim to provide experimental evidence for a more economic, convenient and effective treatment of erode enamel. Part One An epidemiological investigation of primary teeth caries in preschool children in suburban Areas of NanjingObjective:to investigate the prevalence of caries of3-5-year-old children in suburban areas of Nanjing. Method:A total of384children were examined using dental mirror and explorer, and then the data were collected and analyzed. Results:The caries prevalence rate of primary teeth is60.68%. The mean dmft and dmfs is2.70and4.08, respectively. Percentage of filled surface and filling percentage of primary teeth is0.64%and0.77%, respectively. Conclusion:There is a high prevalence of primary teeth caries among children from3to5years old in suburban areas of Nanjing. It is necessary to reinforce early preventive measures.Part Two Analysis of caries associated factors among3-5-year-old children in suburban areas of NanjingObjective:Analyze caries associated factors among3-5-year-old children in suburban areas of Nanjing. Method:Apply the method of multistage and simple random sampling based on the samples of3843to5-year-olds children in suburban areas of Nanjing. Collect the survey data completed by the parents. Questionnaires combined with oral examination were analyzed by chi-square test and Logistic regression. Results:The factors associated with caries are:age, preference to eating sweet food and mother’s level of education. Conclusion: strengthening of oral health education, and limiting amount of sweet food intake were very important for deciduous dental caries prevention. Part Three The role of GC Tooth Mousse in promoting remineralization of erode enamel in an in vitro ModelObjective:To evaluate the effect of GC Tooth Mousse(10%CPP-ACP) on the enamel erode by a soft drink(coca cola). Method:30extracted primary anteriors free of caries were selected and immersed into coca cola, then30teeth were randomly divided into3groups:Group A, GC Tooth Mousse group; Group B, NaF group; Group C, control group. Group A to C were separately applied with Tooth Mousse,0.05%NaF solution and distilled water (3min×ltimes/day×7days). DIAGNOdent scores were compared by T-test and One-way ANOVA. The Morphological change of enamel surface was observed under Scanning Electrical Microscope(SEM). Results:There was a significant difference between experimental group(Tooth Mousse and NaF group) and the negative control(P<0.05). The DIAGNOdent score of Tooth Mousse group was lower than NaF group, and significant difference was found(P<0.05). SEM showed that the enamel surface of Tooth Mousse group was more smooth and completed than NaF group. Conclusion: GC Tooth Mousse can promote the remineralization of primary enamel, and Tooth Mousse is superior to0.05%NaF solution on remineralization.
