Objective:The purpose of this study is to explore the incidence, etiology, clinical and physiological characteristics, case fatality rate and death risk factors of Multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS).Methods:92patients were analysised who were cured in affiliated hospital of Yanbian University from Jan.2010to Dec.2011.23patients were removed from the group who were abadon treatment, in accordance with the standards of the total of69cases of patients. The acute physiology, chronic health evaluation II and multiple organ dysfunction score were recorded when all the patients were confirmed diagnosis, and other variable records were age, sex, history of chronic patient, duration of diagnosis, the duration of RICU ventilation, parameter of ventilation, blood gas analysis, blood routine test, blood biochemistry, sputum culture and Coagulation time.Results:1.92patients who were diagrosised MODS in Affiliated Hospital of Yanbian University from2010to2011years.23cases of abandoned and69cases of patients were analysised.2. The main etiological factors of MODS are poisoning (46.74%) and severe infection (18.48%).3. There are significant difference between survival group and death group in onset to diagnosis time, history of chronic disease, RICU retention time, APACHE II score and MODS score were significantly differrent (P<0.05). Death group of PH, A-aDO2, RI, Lac was significantly higher than that of survival of the group, there are significant between the two groups (P<0.05).4. The mortality of MODS has the positive correlation with the time of diagnosis, number of organ damage were positively correlated (P<0.05). MODS mortality rates as the number of organs dysfunction increased remarkably.5. MODS patients most likely involved organs for lung (81.16%), followed by the central nervous system (62.32%) and heart (52.12%), involving cardiac mortality is the highest (58.33%), followed by a high mortality rate for the central nervous system (48.84%) and lung (46.43%).6.The results of Logistic regression analysis results showed that the number of organ damage, onset to diagnosis time, APACHE II score, Lac, A-aD02and RI are independent risk factors influence the prognosis of MODS.Conclusions:1. The most common cause of MODS was poison.2. The high burdon of organ in MODS patients was lung, followed by the central nervous system, cardiac involvement of the highest mortality rate, followed by central nervous system and pulmonary.3. The number of organ damage, APACHE II score, MODS score, Lac, A-aDO2and RI can be used as the effect of MODS on the risk factors of prognosis.4. The number of organ damage, Lac can be used as independent risk factor to influence the prognosis of MODS.
