A Systematic Review Of TCM In Treating Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Objective: To systematically realize the problems in the TCM clinical researches ofCFS, and to evaluate the quality of these researches. To make the systematic review of thecurative effect of TCM treatment to the CFS, so that clinical treating decision can be basedon objective believable evaluation of the treatment.Methods: Use the data base to searches literatures during2002~2011years．Investigate the clinical effect of TCM that it helps the CFS．According toinclusion-criteria and exclusion-criteria,filtrate the literatures．Based on the principle andthe method of DME, formulate the Systematic Review Table of the treatment article ofTCM to the CFS. It has made statistic analysis from several aspects．Calculate thepercentage0f all kinds of states and evaluate the quality．Then utilize the RevMan5.0toprocee Meta analysis．Result:I have recalled the literatures about the TCM treatment to the CFS2594piecesin all,only38clinical controlled trials in line with the inclusion criteria and exclusioncriteria.In diagnostic criteria,there are12pieces(31.58%)adopting the TCM diagnosis withWestern medicine diagnostic criteria;21pieces(55.26%) only adopting the Westernmedicine diagnostic criteria;2pieces(5.2613%)only adopting the man-made diagnosticcriteria.17pieces(44.73%)have a clear,fit into the inclusion-criteria,and with the purposeof Chapter;18pieces(47.37%)inclusion-criteria description only scattered or description;3pieces have on inclusion-criteria description.17pieces(44.73%)have a reasonable clearexclusion-criteria;5pieces(13.16%)only mention exclusion-criteria;16pieces(42.11%)haveno description about exclusion-criteria.All researches have clear and appropriate efficacystandards,and25pieces(65.79%)using national institute standards.There are25pieces(65.79%)that made the statistical analysis the balance of groups and clearly statedthe P;8pieces(21.05%)showed the words of"balanced"and5pieces(13.16%) say nothingabout "balanced".There are36pieces(94.74%)correctly using statistical methods,only26pieces(68.42%) use clear and reasonable the statistical method.6pieces(15.79%)mentioned the adverse events in each group of symptoms and a few cases,but all these6researchesdid not recorded adverse reactions or events.Only3pieces(7.89%) mention case of lost orquited.Non of the cases used blind-method.The result of Meta analysis is:The clinicalefficiency of TCM treatment CFS is better than that of western medicine.Conclusion:The quantity of clinical random control trials (RCT)is few,and the qualityof RCT is low．According to the result of the Meta analysis, the TCM treatment to CFS isbetter than western medicine to CFS, particularly including methods of yiqiyangxue andwenshenjianpishugan. Some research finding may preclude scientifical analysis betweenthe treatment group and the control group.We still have a heavy task to make moreresearches having stringent design of the sample,multi-center,randomized, placebo-controlled,parallel placebo in clinical trials to be confirmed.
