Background:Health professionals play an important functional role in medical health services, whose health related quality of life directly affects the quality of health services and the efficiency of health organization. They work long hours, having high work load, short sleep time and sport and leisure time and high professional risk. Besides, patients have high expectations, facing the more complex doctor-patient relationship, high work load and high risk working environment are the double burden they bear. It will do great harm to their physical and mental health working in this environment for long time. Job feature refers to a work-related factor or an attribute, which is an evaluation to all aspects of the work workers deal with. The study on health effects of job features started earlier in foreign countries, significant research results indicate that job features can cause changes in health; domestic researches have proved the relevance between job features and health, but they are short, especially for the study of health professionals. Therefore, studies on relationship between job features and health related quality of life have theoretical and practical significance.Objective:To know health related quality of life and job status of health professionals though survey on them, analyze the effects of factors of job features and health related quality of life.To explore the relationship between job features of health professionals and health related quality of life, in order to provide basis for developing work plans and decisions for administration offices in hospitals and health policy sectors. Methods:Multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling method is used in this research, and respondents are health professionals working in county-level public hospitals in Weihai, Dongying and Heze,Shandong province, and a total number of3,200questionnaires are isssued, of which2,903are taken back, whose effective recovery rate is90.7%. The survey tools are questionnaires designed ourselves, which are, completed by the health professionals themselves under the guidance of trained investigators. The database is established by ACCESS software, and SPSS16.0software is used for statistical analysis. The main data analysis methods are:(1) Mean and standard deviation are used if the numeric data complies with the normal or nearly normal distribution, otherwise, rate and composition are used if the disaggregated data complies with the normal or nearly normal distribution to do general description of the situation;(2) Chi square test, t test and F test are used to do single factor analysis on job features and health related quality of life of health professionals, and correlation analysis is done by using Spearman rank correlation coefficient;(3) Gradually diversified and binary Logistic regression are used on multivariate analysis of the factors influencing the job features and health related quality of life of health professionals;(4) Spearman correlation is used to analyze the relationship between job features and health related quality of life.Main Results:(1) Health professionals generally agree high diversity degree of skills, high significance of work and high request of work having on individual control and emotional expression, but work load is heavy, and work feedback level is not high.(2) The results indate that age, marital status, professions, years of professional, administrative offices, the academic qualifications, professional technical positions have differences in job features.(3) EQ-5Dscale is used to investigate the health related quality of life of health professional in three cities, and the result reveals that problems from high rate to low are "anxiety/depression","pain/discomfort","daily life","self care" and "actions", and the rates are respectively22.5%,17%,5.1%,2.8%and3.0%. The major health problems in health professionals are pain/discomfort, anxiety/depression. In the aspect of EQ-5D Index Value, the mean of health professionals in this survey is0.87, which is lower than the national population,(4)The major factors affecting the health of health professionals are age, professions, years of professional, administrative offices, department,the academic qualifications, professional technical positions, health-related behaviors.(5)Job characteristics Skill variety, meaning, autonomy and feedback are positively related to health, while workload and mood request are negative related to health.Conclusions and suggestions:Conclusions:(1)Health professionals agree high significance of work, high diversity degree of skill, high workload and low work feedback level.(2) The health related quality of life of health professionals should not be neglected.EQ-5D Index Value is lower than the national resident, and in anxiety/depression and pain/discomfort problem more serious.(3) Young clinicians are high-risk groups for anxiety/depress.(4)The mental health status of the highly educated heath staff is not optimistic.(5)Focusing on health related quality of life of the traditional medicine department and pediatric department particularly mental health.(6) Job features of health professionals have something to do with health status.(7)There is a correlation between comprehensive health index and the overall health score.Suggestions:(1)Appropriate to increase the number of county-level health technicians, and scientific and rational allocation of staff in various departments;(2) Emphasis on the health related quality of life of the pediatrics, traditional medicine health professionals,and strengthen its mental health education;(3) Improve the performance appraisal objectives and reduce work of mandatory targets to increase the degree of work feedback and job autonomy.(4)Enhance personal understanding of professional ethics, while improving individual psychological qualities.
