The Influence Of Ensure On Nutritional Status Of Patients With Severe Acute Pancreatitis

Objective:To explore the clinical feasibility and importance of the application ofEnsure in Severe Acute Pancreatitis (SAP) after the patients’gastrointestinal functions got well.Methods:Forty SAP patients in our department from Sep.2009to Sep.2011were randomly divided into experimental group(Use Ensure) and controlgroup(Not use Ensure),twenty cases ineachgroup.Prealbumin(PA),albumin(ALB),triglyceride(TG),bloodglucose(BG),bloodcalcium(BC),blood creatinine(Scr) were observed on1d,7d and14d at each group. Average stay and infection rates were also measured.Results:There was no statistical significance(all P>0.05) between the twogroups in the parameters about BC,Scr,TG.BG,TP and ALB showed nodifference on1d and7d between the two groups(all P>0.05).However,on 14d,both PA and ALB in the experimental group were significantly higherthan the control group(all P<0.01);BG in the experimental group werelower than the control group(P<0.01).Meanwhile,Ensure could effectivelycut down the average stay and infection rates.Conclusons:The results suggested that Ensure could effectively improve the SAPpatients’ condition of nutrition,restore the BG level and cut down theaverage stay and infection rates. Application the Ensure is the rationallyvalid nutrition treatment for the SAP patients.
