Acute severe pancreatitis (SAP) is a very dangerous surgical abdomen. It takes from twenty to thirteen percent of total acute pancreatitis. The patients with SAP tend to have a more protracted hospital course with a high incidence of complications, higher mortality. The patients with SAP are under severe stress. SAP usually accompanied by systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) which results in hypermetabolism with prominent protein catabolism. Acute malnutrition, commonly observed in patients, is associated with immunological disturbances, severe metabolic disorder and multiorgan dysfunction syndrome (MODS).Gastrointestinal dysfunction can occur in the early stage. Nutritional support with a reasonable treatment can achieve the minimum stimulation of the pancreas, inhibit pancreatic secretion, but also to improve the malnutrition of patients to prevent disease progression to the healthy evolution of SAP. It has a positive effect. Therefore, the treatment of nutritional support in SAP is very important. Recently, modern researches confirms that early PN should be used in the nutritional support for SAP. When bowel function allows, PN+EN is a better way of nutritional support, the final way is transited to EN. Integrated traditional and western medicine can be used to promote intestinal absorption and improve motor function. As soon as possible the EN can be implemented. Which decreases complications, and improve the cure rate.Aim:To observate the effect of Integrated Traditional and Western nutritional support in severe acute pancreatitis treatment, for clinical application. To understand the feasibility of drug and nutrients infusion via colon to treat SAP.Methods:We collect and summarize cases and experiments in our department of DongZhiMen Hospital in recent years, which were infused of Chinese medicine, nutrient solution through the colon for the treatment of SAP. Results:The infusion of Chinese medicine through the colon, nutrient solution for the treatment of severe acute pancreatitis can be utilized in early stage. It can significantly improve the efficacy. The patients with SAP would spend less, and reduce complications. Conclusion:It has gotten a very good efficacy in the treatment of severe pancreatitis by the combination of traditional and western medicine. the combination of traditional and western medicine would play a more effective role in nutritional support. The infusion of Chinese medicine through the colon is very important for the patients with gastrointestinal dysfunction.
