Objective: To detect the expressions of nm23-H1and PTEN protein in differentclinical stages of cervical squamous carcinoma organizations, cervical intraepithelialneoplasia(CIN) tissues and normal cervical tissues and evaluate their significances incarcinogenesis and metastasis of squamous carcinomas of the cervix and theirrelevances. Methods: To collect48cases of cervical squamous carcinoma tissues,30cases ofCIN tissues,20cases of normal cervical tissues. By ElivisionTMimmunohistochemicalmethod to detect nm23-H1and PTEN expressions, and the relationships betweennm23-H1, PTEN and the clinical characteristics of cervical squamous carcinomacases were analysed.Results:1. The positive expression rate of nm23-H1protein in normal cervicaltissues, CIN tissues, cervical squamous carcinoma tissues was90.0%,83.3%,47.9%respectively. There was a gradual decline. The positive rate of nm23-H1in normalcervical tissues and CIN tissues was significantly higher than that in cervicalsquamous carcinoma tissues, the differences was significant(P<0.05); normal cervicalgroup compared with CIN group, the difference wasn’t statisticallysignificant(P>0.05). The positive expression of nm23-H1was closely related to lymphnode metastases in cervical squamous carcinoma(P<0.05), but not necessarily withage, FIGO clinical stages and pathological differentiation degree (P>0.05).2. Thepositive expression rate of PTEN protein in normal cervical tissues, CIN tissues, cervical squamous carcinoma tissues was100%,70.0%,43.7%respectively. Therewas a gradual decline. Cervical squamous carcinoma group compared with the othertwo groups, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Normal cervicalgroup compared with CIN group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The positive expression of PTEN was closely related to FIGO clinical stages andlymph node metastases in cervical squamous carcinoma (P<0.05), but not necessarilywith age and pathological differentiation degree (P>0.05).3. The expressions ofnm23-H1and PTEN were positive relationships in cervical squamous carcinomatissues(P<0.05).Conclusions:1. In cervical squamous carcinoma, underexprssion of nm23-H1indicated that there was a close relationship between nm23-H1and the cancerprogression. The expression of nm23-H1positively correlated with the lymph nodemetastases, indicated that there was a close relationship between nm23-H1and themetastases of cervical squamous carcinoma. Expression down-regulated or missing ofnm23-H1participated in infiltration and transfer process in the cervical squamouscarcinoma, that can help determine it’s metastatic potential.2. In cervical squamous carcinoma, underexprssion of PTEN indicated that there wasa close relationship between PTEN and the cancer progression. The expression ofPTEN positively correlated with the clinical stages and lymph node metastases, indicated that PTEN played a role in the invasion and metastasis of cervical squamouscarcinoma. The expression missing of PTEN was related to the invation andmetastasis of the cervical squamous carcinoma, may be related to the prognosis ofcervical squamous carcinoma.3. In cervical squamous carcinoma, underexprssion of nm23-H1and PTEN and theircorrelation indicated that they may play a coordination role in the progression andmetastasis of cervical squamous carcinoma.
