Objective:Compared to before chemotherapy,we obersive the change of glucose of patients after chemotherapy.Discussing whether the chemotherapy could cause the disturbance glucose metabolism,even developing diabetes. Could radix trichosanthis effectively prevent chemotherapy-induced glucose.Is it safe of trichosanthis.Methods:A randomized controlled method,58patients met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into2groups,experimental group30cases(combined trichosanthis with chemotherapy),the control group in28cases(treated with chemotherapy).Two groups were observed before and after chemotherapy in patients with fasting serum glucose (FPG).glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1C),fasting serum insulin(F-INS) and write clinical trials table(CRF).The datas and document were provided to assess the efficiency and security of the durg.Results:By the end of four cycles chemotherapy,The FPG,HbA1Cof two groups were increased,which showed statistical difference compared with that of pre-chemotherapy (P<0.05).The F-ins was increased, which showed no significant compared with that of pre-chemotherapy(P>0.05).The FPG,HbA1C,the F-INS were no significant between before and after chemotherapy in both groups(P>0.05).Results elevated blood glucose was noted in4patients of experimental group,accounting for13.33%(4/30)inthe same period.Results elevated blood glucose was noted in5patients of control group,accounting for17.86%(5/28) in the same period.There were no significant difference in the occurrence of abnomoral elevated glucose of two groups(P>0.05).One case was correctly diagnosed as diabetes in experimental group,accounting for3.33%(1/30)in the same period.Two cases was correctly diagnosed as diabetes in control group,accounting for7.14%(2/28) in the same period.There were no significant difference in the incidence of diabetes of two groups (P>0.05).The mean glucose were gradually increasing with the increasing number of chemotherapy in two groups.There were no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).To compare the occurrence of abnomoal elevated glucose of every syndrome in the interior-group and inter-group. The occurrence of abnomoal elevated glucose of every syndrome of control group were respectively Yang-deficiency of spleen and kidney14.29%(1/7),Yin-deficiency of liver and kidney50%(3/6),deficiency of both Qi and Xue14.29%(1/7),Damp-heat symptom0(0/3),Stasis and toxin junction0(0/3).By parallel comparison, the occurrence of abnomoal elevated glucose of Yin-deficiency of liver and kidney was obviously higher than other syndromes. But it is no significant difference in statistics. The occurrence of abnomoal elevated glucose of every syndrome of experimental group were respectively Yang-deficiency of spleen and kidney20%(1/7), Yin-deficiency of liver and kidney9.09%(1/11),deficiency of both Qi and Xue14.29%(1/7),Damp-heat symptom20%(1/5),Stasis and toxin junction0(0/2). By parallel comparison,There were no significant difference in every syndrome in experimental group (P>0.05). By vertical comparison, the occurrence of abnomoal elevated glucose of every syndrome of two groups were similar. Compared to control group,the occurrence of abnomoal elevated glucose of Yin-deficiency of liver and kidney of experimental group was obviously decrease.But there was no significant difference in stsis(P>0.05).The major adverse effect was inhibition of bone marrow and peripheral neurotoxicity,grade Ⅰ~Ⅱ more,rarely over grade Ⅲ.The gastrointestinal disorders,such as nausea,vomiting and diarrhea were mild in the two groups.They were returned after treatment,and could complete the chemotherapy.There were no significant difference between the two groups in adverse reaction.Conclusion:(1)Colorectal cancers accept multi-treatments FOLFOX4or CapeOX chemotherapy could bring about the elevation of glucose,even to bediabetes.(2) Trichosanthis has no obviously advantage in preventing chemotherapy-induced disturbance glucose.But it shows the tendency of hypoglycem in Yin-deficiency of liver and kidney.It is worthy of further study.
