Object:Emotional factors play a very important role in the pathogenesis of CAG. which in turn has a negative impact on patients’ emotions. And a vicious cycle begins, which makes the clinical treatment of CAG more difficult. Diseases caused by emotional factors are most closely associated with liver and spleen. This research utilizes the methods of syndrome differentiation from traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) combined with psychological scale from Western medicine, to discuss the relationship between TCM syndrome of CAG patients and psychological characteristics such as depression and anxiety. It provides the foundation for the use of liver-regulating therapy in treatment of CAG.Method:200cases of CAG selected in accordance with diagnosis standards and excluded standards, fill in the Zung self-rating depression scale(SDS). self-rating anxiety scale(SAS), general questionnaires about related symptoms and gastroscopic observation table. The collected data is used to establish a database for statistical analysis.Findings:This research obtains some results through statistical analysis of200patients with CAG.1. The relationship between CAG patients in General condition (gender, age, adverse factors of life, education, occupation, income, duration of disease) and characteristics of depression and anxiety in patients:gender, age, adverse factors of life and income all affect the CAG patients’psychological status including depression and anxiety. We have learned that the female CAG patients have worse mentation than the males, and suffer from more serious depression and anxiety. Middle aged people and old ones have the higher SDS&SAS integral than the youngsters. Patients affected by unhealthy living factors(including family relationship, society adaptation, mental stimulation, family income, working intensity and pressure) have a more obvious condition of depression and anxiety.Depression and anxiety are relatively apparent when the patients have low income.2. The relation between gastroscopic manifestations, pathology organization classification, HP infection and the characteristics of depression and anxiety of the CAG patients:SDS&SAS integrals of gastroscopic manifestations, pathology organization classification is irrelevant to HP infection.3. The relationship between syndromes of TCM in CAG patients with mental characteristics of depression and anxiety:SDS&SAS integrals of CAG patients are higher than those of ordinary people. Some patients had significant psychological state including depression and anxiety. The SDS&SAS integrals of ganweibuhe group are higher than the other two groups. The differences of SDS&SAS integrals between the group of ganweibuhe and the group of zhongxuqizhi are significant, which is statistically significant. The differences between other groups are of no statistical significance. Conclusion:CAG patients had significant psychological state of depression and anxiety which are affected by gender, age, adverse factors of life, income, etc, and are not related to SDS&SAS integrals of gastroscopic manifestations, pathology organization classification and HP infection. CAG is affected by emotion, which is objective, especially in patients with ganweibuhe syndrome. Depression and anxiety are the main manifestations of the emotional effects in this disease.
