Objective:To know the epidemiologic characters on congenital heart disease (CHD)of Uigur and Kirgiz children and adolescents aged5-14years old in the Southern Xinjiang, for the further diagnosis and treatment of CHD in this area. Methods:39350children oradolescents in primary school, middle school and kindergarten living in Southern Xinjiangwere investigated, including primary screen and confirmed diagnose. Results: In theinvestigation,203patients with CHD were detected, and the total prevalence rate is5.519‰. The most of these patients were atrial septal defect (ASD) patients. Theprevalence rate of gender has no statistical difference. But the prevalence rates in differentage groups, altitude and nationalities have statistical difference. Part of the children withaortic bicuspid deformation was found. Conclusion: Although the prevalence rate inSouthern Xinjiang is at the national level, the prevalence rate of high altitude residentshigher than plain areas residents. The constituent ratio of ASD is significantly higher thanothers. The mainly type of CHD is simple one in high altitude areas, and the prevalence ofaortic bicuspid deformation is higher in these areas than others.
