Objective:To evaluate the correlation between metabolic syndrome and surgicaloperation of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH), and explore the possible risk factors ofsurgical operation of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Methods:We selected575cases whowere diagnosed of BPH in the first affiliated hospital of Xinjiang medical university fromNovember2008to July2011.508samples of them were given by surgical operationtreatment. The others were treated by medicine. Then investigate the I-PSS score, QOL score, the history of hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia etc. And we measured height, weight, abdominal circumference, blood pressure, blood lipid, blood glucose level in blood tests.Application of single factor correlation analysis and multiple factor non condition Logisticregression analysis method to analyze the related factors were analyzed, in order tounderstand the the possible risk factors of surgical operation of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Results:Single factor analysis manifest: waist,HDL, prostate volume, hypertension, I-PSSscore, QOL score and MS have statistical differences with BPH’s surgical operationtreatment (P<0.05),while diabetes and hyperlipidemia have not statistical differences withBPH (P>0.05); logistic regression analysis showed: Using by surgery for treating BPH mayinfluenced by prostate volume, hypertension and I-PSS score, metablic symdrome(OR=2.140、2.371、3.822、3.891,95%CI=0.999~1.022、1.215~4.627,1.019~1.169,0.982~6.152,P<0.05). Conclusion:prostate volume, hypertension, high I-PSS score, MS areimportant risk factors of BPH patient’ s surgical operation treating. LUTS are useful forSelecting of treatment therapy. Control the body weight and blood pressure maybe step downthe progress of BPH, and avoid the operation treatment.
