Objective:To observe and discuss the clinical curative effects on treatment of knee osteoarthritis with the method of nourishing and activating blood in order to guide clinical treatment. Methods:All the data cases were selected from the patients of Expert Outpatient Service from Zhang Fang Jian, who is a professor in orthopedic department of Hubei Province Chinese Medicine Hospital. The range of time of these data cases was from June2010to June2011. According to the diagnostic criteria of cases, incorporating into the standards and cases to exclude specimens,86patients were selected, and divided into two groups randomly. The treatment group which included42patients was given the improved Four-Ingredient decoction for oral solution in accordance with the principles of TCM. The control group which included the other44patients was given oral solution of Panlong Qipian. Before comparing the effects of the treatment, all of the patients are marked respectively in terms of knee Index of Severity for Osteoarthritis (ISOA). Meanwhile, all the patients were in order to take X rays of weight-bearing knee and were separated into different grades with reference to Kellgren-Lawrence grading criteria. Within treatment group, there are5cases in grade I,21cases in grade Ⅱ,16cases in Ⅲ grade. Within control group, there are8cases in grade Ⅰ,22cases in grade Ⅱ,14cases in Ⅲ grade,(the clinical observation of objects do not include X-rays showed grade Ⅳwith reference to Kellgren-Lawrence grading criteria due to the exclusion criteria of this clinical observation that the knees which have a large number of Osteophyma, or appear joint space narrowing, or severe sclerosis). The duration of a complete course of treatment was8weeks, and afterwards, monthly follow-up were taken from all of the patients. Accordingly, the effects are observed and compared through the knee Index of Severity for Osteoarthritis (ISOA) and traditional Chinese medicine symptoms quantitative evaluation. Moreover, the data would be analyzed through SPSS16.0, since the gender, age and X-ray of two groups were showed no significant difference. After a complete course of treatment, the analysis which was described above would be taken twice in order to conduct a contrast between the data taken at the beginning of the study and the end.Result:The results of this research were shown that after a complete course of treatment, both treatment and control groups, patients could decrease in ISOA and traditional Chinese medicine symptoms. Further, according to the evidence of the data, the treatment group showed stronger effects in terms of improving of traditional Chinese medicine symptoms, in particular, in improving the situation of TCM.Conclusion:Found from this clinical treatment, treatment group possess more strength in improving the situation of TCM observation group than control group. From the clinical remission rate, the method of nourishing and activating blood which used in the grade Ⅱ and grade Ⅲ showed slight advantages in the solution of knee osteoarthritis. Moreover, nourishing blood and promoting blood of TCM Differential Treatment could be more individualized, suitable for long-term application, and could be considered as one of effective methods of prevention and treatment of knee osteoarthritis which deserve further studies.
