Backgrounds:Gastric cancer is one of the common maligant tumors. Currently, gastric cancer mortality is in the second of cancer-related death in the world, only behind lung cancer. Eukaryotic translation initiation factors3a (eIF3a) has been thought to play an important regulatory role in the expression of genes, and associated with the clinical stage and prognosis of tumors. Therefore, studying the role of eIF3a in the development of gastric cancer, to determine its clinical stage, prognosis and guide the treatment is of certain significance. Objective:By detecting the expression of eIF3a in gastric tissue, adjacent noncancerous tissue and normal gastric tissue, this research intends to study the relationship with clinicophological parameters in gastric cancer, and discuss its clinical significance, so as to provide a new idea for the early diagnosis of gastric cancer and target therapy. Methods:In this study, immunohistochemical method to detect the expression of eIF3a level in54cases of gastric cancer tissue,50cases adjacent normal tissue,20cases normal gastric tissue, and analysis the relationship with the clinicphological features is applied.Results:(1)The expression of eIF3a in gastric cancer tissue was significantly higher than in adjacent normal tissue (p<0.01) and normal gasrric tissue (p<0.01), while no difference between adjacent normal tissue and normal gasrric tissue (p>0.05)(2)The expression of eIF3a in gastric cancer was statistically related with the depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis and TNM stage (p<0.01)(3)The expression of eIF3a in gastric cancer had no relationship with patient’s age, gender and tumor size (p>0.05)Conclusions:(1) The expression of eIF3a in gastric cancer was higher than in adjacent tissue and normal gastric tissue, suggesting that eIF3a related with the occurrence and development of grastric cancer.(2) The expression of eIF3a in gastric cancer had no relationship with age, gender and tumor size of the patients.(3)The expression of eIF3a in gastric cancer reduced with deepening of the depth of invasion, increasing the ability of tumor invasion, enhancing the degree of malignancy, progressing of the clinical stages.
