Background:With the development of the service cause and establishment of people-oriented service concept, to express accordinary behavior with occupation emotional requirements grows to be encouraged by the social culture and the public, and has become the constraints of work performance and achievement of the aim of the organization. Emotional work has become a very important part of the nursing work, through the emotional work nurses can manage the patient’s emotional state, which can directly affect the patient’s psychological and physiological conditions and rehabilitation. May (1995) argued that nursing combined with the emotional work in itself was a real therapeutic method. Emotional work can also create a harmonious relationship between nurses and patients, so as to improve the job performance of nurses smoothly. As the change of nursing model, emotional work in the nursing profession was paid more and more attention, which also result in a decreased satisfaction of nurses job and high risk group of occupation lassitude.In the past twenty years, although emotional work is the hot issue in the field of organizational behavior field, the research of emotional work in the medical field has not drawn sufficient attention.There is few research abroad about it, furthermore most of which were focused on the qualitative research or the relationship between emotional work and its consequence variables theoretically. International concrete empirical research on emotional work is seldom involved either. The objective of this study is to reflect the mood status of nurses working situation accurately with a unified standard nurses’emotion work table, so as to provide heoretical basis for the relevant departments and lay the foundation for follow-up study.Objective: To investigate the emotional status of nurses in several hospitals of linyi city by the means of nurses’ emotion work table and qualitative interviews,so as to understand the current working situation of nurses, to analyze the effect of different demographic characteristics, hospital level and other factors on nurses working effect, to explore the emotional factors influencing nurse work, to provide basis for the strategy of improved nurses emotional work.Method:Multi-stage random sampling was used in this study,380nurses from public hospitals were selected by using stratified cluster sampling in Linyi City. Nurses’ emotional labor scale was used to collect data. The basic status table of nurse consist of age, culture, marriges and professional post etc. The nurses’emotional labor scale was made by Hongmei Wu, The nurses’emotional labor scale includes18items, the emotional labor of nurses consist of five dimensions,which are named surface act, the deep act, the natural act,surpressand, identifying with emotion display rules. With on-site self-administered methods,368questionnaires were taken back. The effective rate is96.8%. The data was analyzed by SPSS13.0. The methods of statistical analysis included descriptive statistical analysis, analysis of variance, student’s t test and correlation analysis.Main Results:(1) The nurses have high identification degree on the nursing profession of identify with emotion display rules, and the mainly strategies in emotional labor are the deep act and surpress,(2) Compared with the nurse in the county hospitals and township hospitals, except the three factors (surface act, the natural act, and surpress), the other factor scores were higher in the nurse of city hospital.(3) Significant difference was found in different ages, culture, marriges and professional post in scores of the natural act.Conclusion:The nurses have high identification degree on the nursing profession of identify with emotion display rules, and the mainly strategies in emotional labor are the deep act and surpress, the emotional labor of nurses has partly distinct difference among ages, marriges, professional post and hospital degree.
