Glaucoma is a multifactorial disease which leading blindness worldwide,a different classification means a different definition. Several risk factors have been found to be associated with glaucoma progression, with elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) remains the most important known risk factor.Body blood pressure can constantly change in a day, also can24hours intraocular pressure. Intraocular pressure is dependent on the generation of outflow rate, through the anterior chamber Angle of aqueous in resistance and the pressure of veinsofsclera. The IOP elevation observed at night, also measuring peak diurnal IOP, valley diurnal IOP and IOP fluctuation are found to be significant. Sometimes disease continues to worsen despite a satisfactory diurnal IOP, while IOP should be measured over24h, looking for an escape of pressure at night. So at present, measuring24hours intraocular pressure curve is becoming one of the important examinations to diagnose glaucoma and assess the effect of treatment. Glaucoma is one kind of blinding ophthalmopathy caused by increased intraocular pressure, and its pathologic basis is the progressive loss of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) and its axons. In the past, a great number of studies have focused on reducing IOP. This three measures have been taken to monitor IOP-laser, medication and surgery. The history of glaucoma pharmacology begins in1862with the isolation of physostigmine from the calabar bean. During the20th century, drug discovery and development accelerated, with the introduction of carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, beta blockers, and prostaglandin analogs Medication remains the vital treatment of glaucoma, however, sustained the eyes drugs delivery through topical administration is difficult to achieve. The delivery of drugs in a sustained manner could provide a patient with the nicer attractive by providing optimal dosing, with minimal local toxicity and convenience. Currently research is updating the known properties of a number of drugs now used to treat glaucoma. In clinical, using glaucoma medications on frequency and time is uncertain. This article summarizes glaucoma medications to24hours intraocular pressure curve effects on the current clinical research situation.
