Objective:The purpose of this study was to asses the cognition of malocclusion in Angle Ⅱ Division2patients and to use the IOTN index to judge their objective treatment need, to provide the reliable basis for orthodontic treatments for the Angle Ⅱ Division2patients.Methods:100cases were selected from the Stomatology Hospital of Shang Dong University. The range for the pre-treatment age was from9to40years. The cases were from9to40years and divided into two groups. One was Adolescence, aged from9to16years old, the other was Adult, aged from18to40years old. Deliver questionnaires to every patients and take them back after diagnose. Questionnaires were delivered to every patients and took them back after diagnose. At the mean time, make every patients’ models,in order to use the IOTN index to analysis their objective orthodontic treatment need. Results:The first part of the research shows that:adolescents and adults all accept the appearance before the orthodontic treatment in Angle Ⅱ Division2patients. The reason of adolescents to seek treatment was dental unsightly. At the same time most adults consult doctors because of functional problems, such as TMJ、malocclusions and so on.The second part of the research shows that:both adolescents and adults had objective orthodontic treatment need in Angle Ⅱ Division2patients. The objective orthodontic treatment need of adolescents mostly concentrated on the minor needs、 critical needs and the needs orthodontic treatment levels. Most objective orthodontic treatment need of adults focused on the critical needs、the needs and the serious need orthodontic treatment levels.Conclusions:1.China is a developing country, the awareness of oral health care and orthodontic knowledge is not yet popular in the referendum. The majority of adult patients in Angle II Division2only if there is severe deformity malocclusions or the malocclusion caused organic damage that would arouse the attention and the desire to the treatment desire.2.The objective orthodontic treatment need is a high degree and subjective orthodontic treatment need is relatively low. Their orthodontic treatment need related to the awareness of the malocclusion. In the process of orthodontic treatment, clinicians not only establish coordination between the teeth、occlusion and craniofacial, but also make patients fully aware of the Physiological characteristics, treatment limits of their malocclusion in order to avoid disputes. While the good doctor-patient communication can enhance the confidence of their orthodontic treatment and improve patients’compliance.3.The objective standard for orthodontic treatment needs of patients with Angle Ⅱ Division2formulation suitable for our country, in addition to consider the arrangement of the teeth and occlusion, other factors related to patients with soft tissue profile, skeletal face. a variety of teeth, occlusion and function problems should be considered. In order to make more comprehensive and correct diagnosis and effective systemic of treatment programs, and strive to achieve the best therapeutic effect.4.Angle Ⅱ Division2malocclusion can cause growth abnormalities. Orthodontic treatment for this malocclusion should be treated before puberty, so that the growth of the jaw tends to coordinate. Scholars advocated early treatment, and therefore requires orthodontics knowledge in place early popularity, which requires the community physicians, patients, parents attach great importance, to avoid correct adverse consequence.
