Two parts are discussed in the thesis, theoretical and clinical research.Theoretical researchBy studying the medical literature of TCM and Modern Medicine systematically,to explore the regularity of the occurrence as well as development and transformation of the common cold in children, and finally make better use of Chinese mdicine, especially the Chinese patent medicines to treat the disease.Clinical ResearchObjective:Through observeing and recording the credits changes of the symptoms and physical signs before and after treatment,to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the trial medication, and investigate the correlation between preliminary study etiology and syndrome type for the children’s common cold. Methods: Based on the randomized,parallel-controlled clinical trials, we divided the170matched cases into two groups,Group of Chinese Medicine and Group of Western Medicine, each group has85cases and continue to be divided into different syndrome types,as wind-cold syndrome,wind-heat syndrome and table cold-heat syndrome. The test group takes proprietary chinese medicine while the control group takes western medicine.Results:①Clinical efficacy:The difference of the efficacy in the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.01):Clinical recovery of the test group accounted for39.02%, effective in accounting for45.12%, so its total efficacy is84.14%,while the control group for25.61%,42.68%,68.29%each;②The test group is more effective in the improvement of symptoms(P<0.01),especially to the symptoms of runny nose, poor appetite, stool, etc(P<0.01).③As to the time it takes for the body temperature returned to normal standard, the two group has no significant difference(P>0.05).The test group is as effective as the control group, but the two groups have different performance on the setup time when the fever is gone(P<0.05),the western medicine group is superior to traditional the Chinese medicine group.④This study manifests a higher rate of virus detection(57.76%).Conclusion: As its satisfactory efficacy and safety and with high compliance, using of Chinese patent medicines to treat children with cold is suitable for popularizing and has a good prospects for application.
