Waitai Miyao Fang has forty volumes and the No.32volume is particularly book of beauty.Purpose:To explore the regulation and characteristics in medicine using of beauty prescriptions by summarizing them in Waitai Miyao Fang.Method:There are363beauty prescriptions in Waitai Miyao Fang, which include281kinds of Chinese medicine. By using Microsoft Office-Exce12000software to statistically analyze the frequency of medicament use, distribution of medicament source and application site of herb, channel tropism of medicine, using of toxic medication, medicinal characteristics, distributions of prescription formulations and matrix and the traditional efficacy situation. The author analyzes the characteristics of every common medicament of each prescription and summarizes the characteristics and rules of using medicament in Waite Miyao Fang.Result:1.First, it has274extenal-use beauty prescriptions, the top five of the frequency of medicament use are baizhi, xixin, chuanxiong, fangfeng and qianfen. Second, medicament source is based on herb. Regarding the use of medicine plants and herbs, the root and rhizome are the most useful parts which take38.3%. Third,39kinds of toxic medicaments take about16.8%. Forth, the property of the herbs has acid, bitter, sweet, pungent and salty taste. The sweet herbs are the most used herbs which takes29.6%of the prescriptions.Fifth, The tropism of the herbs has cold, hot, warm and cool nature. The warm nature herbs are the most used herbs which takes33.3%. Sixth, medicines are mainly involving livers, stomach, lungs, spleen, kidneys.
