A Research For Syndrome Characteristics Of Cough Variant Asthma

BackgroundCough Variant Asthma, also named as Allergic Cough, Cough Typed Asthma, and Concealed Asthma, is a special type of asthma mainly or only manifested as chronic cough. It is belonged to such as cough, gasp syndrome, whooping cough, spasmodic cough in TCM. But because it causes with no obvious breathing symptom which often leads to loss or mistake of the treatment. Therefore, it is of great significance to improve the clinical efficacy by taking the form of combining disease and syndrome, using different research methods.ObjectivesBy observing the four diagnostic methods information of the patients, we analysis their onset age, gender, morbidity, symptom and syndrome so as to adequately clarify syndrome features in CVA.MethodsBy using SPSS17.0and descriptive statistical method to make statistics of general status, pulmonary symptoms, systemic symptom, tongue picture, pulse condition, symptomatic characteristics and its syndrome types.ResultThe survey is including83cases of CVA patients. According to the statistics, CVA has no obvious difference in gender and onto ages. It has a long course of disease and always relapses. It happens in every season, especially in the spring and winter. Allergic factors are closely related, It is always induce after respiratory infection, sports, emotional, inhaling cold air or pungent smell.Its pulmonary symptoms mainly include cough (especially in night), expectoration, pharynx itching, dry throat and so on. Its general symptoms are aversion to wind and cold, short of breath, choking sensation in chest, pain in chest and rib etc. It always has a red or reddish tongue, and its tongue fur is thin and whitish, and pulse is mainly floating, smooth, thready and wiry.The TCM syndrome types of CVA mainly contain of Biao-Shi Syndrome overall.ConclusionCough variant asthma relapses, and always has a long course.It happens after invasion of the six external factors which cause diseases and the lodge phlegm. Then the inside and outside factors mingle and make the body cough. It happens in the lungs, then the function of the liver, spleen and kidney zang-fu are disordered after a long course. The TCM syndrome types of CVA are very complex, mainly contain Ben-Xu syndrome, Biao-shi syndrome or both.
