ObjectivesTo observe the clinical effect of intradermal needle therapy on insomnia of heart and spleen deficiency.MethodsSixty-four cases were randomly divided into acupuncture group (control group) and acupuncture combined with intradermal needle therapy group (observation group) with32cases each. The observation group was treated by normal acupuncture while the control group was treated by acupuncture combined with intradermal needle therapy of Xinshu (BL15) and Pishu (BL20), with3times per week,12times one course. The clinical effect was evaluated by the standard of curative effect evaluation of insomnia and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) before, half of the treatment, after and one month after treatment.ResultThe observation group had no statistical difference in improving cure-remarkable-effectiveness rate and lowering the PSQI score in half of the treatment (P>0.05), but was better than control group after the treatment (P<0.05), and the effect persisted for one month after treatment (P>0.05) The observation group was better than control group in lowering the daytime dysfunction score after and one month after treatment (P<0.05). The daytime dysfunction score of one month after treatment was lower than after treatment (P<0.05)Conclusion Intradermal needle therapy has synergized action on insomnia of heart and spleen deficiency, and could improve daytime dysfunction for a longer time.
