ObjectiveTo expand the acupunctural therapies of vertigo caused by the Vertebro-basilar Artery Insufficiency and promote the use of Qi thoroughfare and Four sea Theory, this research evaluated the clinical efficacy of the acupuncture treatment for the vertigo under the guidance of Qi thoroughfare and Four sea Theory.MethodsA randomized controlled trial was conducted, in which70patients were recruited and randomly allocated to the acupuncture group and control group. The acupuncture group was treated with acupuncture therapy under the guidance of Qi thoroughfare and Four sea Theory. The main acupoints are Bahui(GV20),Fengfu(GV16), Tianzhu(BL10), Dazhui (GV14), Dazhu (BL11) and the auxiliary acupoints were chosen according to differentiation of syndromes The control group was treated wi th Flunari zine Hydrochloride Capsules, taking10mg orally every night.The acupuncture group received acupunctural therapy for5times a week. Meanwhile the control group must take the pills in prescribed dose. After a two-week treatment, the evaluation of the research is worked out and then the SPSS18.0software was utilized for data processing. The data was processed with descriptive analysis, pared t-test and χ2test, etc.Results1. The comparison of the baseline between the two groups was presented that the constituent ratios of gender, age, diagnosis, and disease course were equivalent (P>0.05). 2. The total effective rate was97.1%, while the control group was82.9%. The data analysis showed that there was a significant difference between two groups (P<0.05).3. The results checked by TCD showed that there wasn’t statistical meaning between the two groups before the treatment (P>0.05). But after the treatment there was a a significant difference on Vm-RVA, Vm-BA, Vs-RVA and Vs-BA between two groups (P<0.05).Conc l us i on1. The disorder of the qi and blood is the basic pathomechanism of Vertigo and harmonize the qi and blood is the fundamental method of treatment of vertigo. The Qi thoroughfare and Four sea Theory had powerful guidance on the treatment of vertigo.2. The results indicated that the total effect of the treatment group was superior to the control group.
