Object iveTo observe and evaluate the safety of Jin Fu An Decoction (JFAD) in the treatment of medium or Advanced Lung Cancer.Methods60patients with medium or advanced lung cancer were randomly divided into treatment group and control one. Patients in treatment group also received the treatment of JFAD besides the best supportive care. All symptoms related to the drug toxicity should be paid attention to, and the adverse reaction of both groups were evaluated after3weeks.In the acute toxicity experimtent,40mice were randomized into2groups (10mals,10females,20rats a group), oral maximal tolerance dose(MTD) of JFAD were determined. Mice from each group were given JFAD or distilled water on maximal tolerance dose twice the first day. Then monitered the toxicity effects for7days and the changes of body weight, blood biochemistry, hematology, organ indexes and histopathology at the end of the experiment. Accordingly the times equal to human were calculated.ResuItsAfter taking JFAD for3weeks, clinical examinations and symptoms of the patients from treatment group were analyzed, the changes showed no difference in statistics(P>0.05). Collated with the control group given only the best supportive care, adverse reactions in the treatment group were not obvious either, and there was no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). In a word, throughout the whole study, taking JFAD did not lead to side effects related to hematologic system, digestive system, urinary system, cardiac and others. Acute toxicity experimtent:All animals survived, according to pre-experiment, the oral maximal tolerance dose of JFAD was587.Og/kg,equal to200times dosage in human. Comparing the mice from the two group, changes of body weight, blood biochemistry, hematology, organ indexes showed no difference in statistics (P>0.05), and there were no pathological changes found out from the histopathological examination.ConclusionThere were no significant adverse reactions for patients to take JFAD as a treatment of medium or advanced lung cancer. On the basis of the acute toxicity experimtent, the oral maximal tolerance dose of JFAD was587. Og/kg, equal to more than100times the human dosage. JFAD is safe for clinical applications in a short time.
