Objective:To evaluate the mid-term clinical and radiological result of the Corail femoral stem. Methods:analyses the result of the patients who used the Corail femoral stem from2002to2006.There were128patients(152hips) used the Corail femoral stem during this period, and51patients(60hips) followed up. The mean follow up time was83.3±11.9months(range64months to114months). Results:The mean of harris score was34.0±7.9(range10-54) before operation and87.9±10.9(range20-97) at the latest follow up. The function of the joint is good. No revision because of loosening or infection. No thigh pain. No iner or shifting of the prosthesis. All of the case have bone intergrowth. Conclusio:The Corail stem can achieve stabilization at the early time and can save the bone mass, to promote the bone intergrowth, and the result of the mid-term follow up are good. Objective To compare the revision rates of cemented and uncemented femoral stem in primory total hip arthroplasty. Methods The data bases of PubMed、Medline、Cochrane library、CBM、CJFD.Date analyses were conducted with RevMan5.1.Results Sixteen studies met our inclusion criteria.Combined results showed that the revision rates of uncemented femoral stem is higer than cemented femoral stem in0~5years after operation:OR=0.49.There were no significations difference between two kinds of femoral stem in5~10years and more than10years follow up after operation:OR=1.44and OR=2.01.Conclusion There were no significations difference of the revision rates between the two kinds of femoral stem in medium and long-term follow up after operation.more long term-follow up results was needed. BACKGROUND:Hydroxyapatite is a kind of calcium phosphate that has excellent biocompatibility. By deal with the surface, It can form a thin layer on the metal surface, this approach can greatly improve the osseointegration of this kind pressed prosthesis, it can make the prosthesis bony fixed until the bone ingrowth into the porous surface of the prosthesis. Nowadays, biological hip prosthesis coated by hydroxyapatite has been widely used in clinical.OBJECTIVE:To review relevant literatures, and to summarize the biological characteristics and and clinical application of hydroxyapatite coated hip prosthesis.METHODS:PubMed database were retrieved by computer for articles published from1988to2011, The key words were"hydroxyapatite, hip arthroplasty, hip prosthesis", Published earlier, repeated and similar studies were excluded and30literatures were included.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The hydroxyaptite coated uncemented hip prosthesis can promote bone ongrowth in early inplant and permit early weight-bearing, leading to a stable and reliable mechanical and biologic fixation. The incidence of long-term complications such as aseptic loosening, periprosthetic osteolysis and prosthesis subsidence is not higher than non-HA coated hip prosthesis. However, there is no consensus in the thickness, particle size, crystallinity of the HA-coating, further research and discussion is required.
