Objective:to study the clinical features of different types of myasthemia gravis(MG) and MG with thyroid dysfunction. Method:Retrospective studies on the71inpatients diagnosed as MG in the second affiliated hospital of Zhejiang University during July2010to July201l,including:(1)comparing the onset age, gender composition, reaction to cholinesterase inhibitors, the positive rate of MG associated antibodies.the thymus’ condition,RNS results and thyroid function between ocular MG and general MG;(2)according the level of h-TSH,dividing the patients into three groups as hyperthyrodism group, hypothyrodism group and normal thyroid function group, comparing the clinical features above among the three group.Results:(1)the positive rate of AChR-Ab(p=0.007) and CAE-Ab(p=0.015) in general MG group are higher than ocular MG group;but the rate of thymus abnormality in ocular MG group is higher than the general MG group(p=0.001),and both groups are dominated by thymoma; the two groups have no statistical differences in onset age, gender composition, reaction to cholinesterase inhibitors, RNS results and thyroid function (p>0.05).(2)the three groups of different thyroid function have no statistical differences in onset age, gender composition, MG types, reaction to cholinesterase inhibitors, the positive rate of AChR-Ab and CAE-Ab,thymus condition and RNS results (p>0.05).Conclusion:the positive rate of AChR-Ab and CAE-Ab, and thymus condition are different between ocular MG group and general MG group, suggesting that the pathogenesis of the two MG types may be dissimilar.MG patients with thyroid dysfunction is very common, this study shows that MG with different thyroid function have the similar clinical features. However, the number of samples is so small that the significance of results is limited, which is supposed to be further studied.
