Objective: This study aims to investigate the clinical characteristics of myasthenia gravis with or without autoimmune thyroid disease.Methods: The clinical features of 112 patients admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from January 2012 to December 2017,were analyzed and compared between ocular and generalized,with normal and abnormal thyroid function,thyroid-associated antibody positive and negative groups.Results:(1)There was no statistical differences in onset age,gender,neostigmine test,repetitive nerve stimulation(RNS),thymus abnormalities and AChRAb positive rate between ocular and generalized MG(P>0.05).(2)MG patients with abnormal thyroid function were more likely to have thymic hyperplasia compared to normal thyroid function group(P=0.017),but without statistical differences in onset age,gender,clinical classification,neostigmine test,RNS,AChRAb positive rate and rate of thymoma(P>0.05);(3)The incidence of MG patients with thyroid-associated antibodies(TRAb,TGAb,TMAb or TPOAb)was significantly higher in female and ocular MG than in male and general MG patients(all P<0.05).The incidence of thymic hyperplasia,CD4+ T cell ratio,and CD4+ T /CD8+T in thyroid-associated antibody-positive MG patients were higher than those of antibody-negative MG patients(all P<0.05).However,there was no difference in age,AchRAb positive rate,and incidence of thymoma in MG patients whether with thyroid-associated antibodies or not(all P>0.05).Conclusions: MG patients with autoimmune thyroid disease are more common in females and ocular MG,and it is more likely to have thymic hyperplasia and abnormal cellular immunity.MG Patients with abnormal thyroid function are more likely to have thymic hyperplasia.
