Objective To probe the expression of c-Met and PTEN in thyroid carcinoma and its clinical value. Methods Expression of c-Met and PTEN in specimen of thyroid carcinoma (TC), thyroid adenomas and normal thyroid tissues was detected by SP method of immunohistochemistry (IHC). Then the marker results in those with different pathological category and clinical stages were contrasted, and correlation analysis was made. Results The positive rate of PTEN and c-Met in72TC specimen was62.5%and63.9%, compared with the normal thyroid tissues and thyroid adenomas respectively, there was statistical significance (P<0.05).Also there were statistically significant differences in sign results of different pathological types, the clinical and pathologic stages, classification and regional lymph node metastasis status. Otherwise, there was no statistical difference among tumor size, inside/outside of diolame. patients’gender and age (P>0.05). C-Met with the PTEN gene’s expression was negatively (r=-0.340, P<0.01).Conclusion c-Met and PTEN genes probably play an important role in the evolvement of TC. Joint marking these two genes may offer a effective reference for evaluation of malignant degree and prognosis of thyroid cancer and may even afford a mentality to the targeted therapy.
