BackgroundCough is a protective reflexes, through the cough reflex can effectively remove the pathological secretion in the respiratory tract and the foreign body from the outside in the respiratory tract. But chronic, frequent and rough cough can have serious repercussions on life, work and social activities of sufferers, and even aggravate the burden on the heart and lung. Clinically, cough is one of the commonest symptoms in medical patients. Its etiology is complex and involves widely, particularly in cough patients who have no abnormal findings were observed from the chest imaging, this is the most easily overlooked that clinicians. Many of them have been long-term misdiagnosed with chronic bronchitis or bronchitis. Doctors use a large amount of antibiotics, but ineffective. Not only increases patients’sufferings, but also increases cost of treatment. Besides the curative effects of resolving phlegm, relieving cough and asthma, Chinese Traditional Medicine also with the function of anti-infection Under integrated pharmacology, andean reduce western medicine poisonous side effect. It has shown an increasingly irreplaceable role in the treatment of cough, especially to people with cancer. In particular, TCM still has good effects in this population of patients who are long-term treated with antibiotics. Chinese medicine treat cough should see clearly of pathogenic mechanism, treatment based upon pathogenesis, and depend on the westen cause to give treatment with the combination of "syndrome differentiation " and "disease differentiation". But this is a slow process, patients need orally Chinese herbal decoction for long periods of time. Many patients cannot receive a lot of complicated procedures for decoction Chinese traditional medicine. Pain and suffering that take the herb medicine that the patients want to bear is also bigger. And the price of medical is so high. According to TCM theory of externally curing internal disease, point application Therapy became applied more and more widely, accumulated some experience. According to research, point application was effective for cough and asthma. If this article indicates that point application of evodia rutaecarpa was effective for cough with cold syndrome, then will palliate sufferings of patients take medicine, reduce health care costs.ObjectiveThrough To observe point application of evodia rutaecarpa on cough with cold syndrome, and to explore the clinical effect.MethodsA total of86cough patients matched with the inclusion criteria were allocated randomly into two groups. The patients in the control group were treated with routine treatment, while the treatment group were added with point application of evodia rutaecarpa on the basis of routine treatment,1week as one course. Observe both groups of patients on the days0,3,8in therapeutic process of symptom score for cough and cough degree. Both groups were treated with antibiotics or antiviral drugs based on patient’s condition, as appropriate, and depended on the cause to give symptomatic treatment during treatment.ResultsComparison of symptom integral each one itself is given at day0and day8. There were statistical differences between control group and treatment group (P<0.05). The results showed that the two groups all was effect for cough. Among43treatment group,5cases were clinical control,22cases were significantly effective,13cases were effective, and3cases were inefficient, the total effective rate being93.02%. Among43control group,2cases were clinical control,16cases were significantly effective,14cases were effective, and11cases were inefficient, the total effective rate being74.42%. The difference between the two groups had the remarkable significance (P<0.05). After one-week treatment, The score for the symptoms in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group, with significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). The results indicated that the effects of treatment group were better than controls. Harmful reaction was not found during the course of clinical application. Conclusion The short-term results support the feasibility of point application of evodia rutaecarpa in treating coug with cold syndrome.
