As the development of urbanization and increase of social risk factors, orthopedic trauma has become a very common disease in people’s daily life and work.Under the influence of people’s diversity demand in medical treatment and change of medical model, trauma patients in the rehabilitation cure have to face basic physiological problems, especially suffer from mental problems and social problems, such as anxiety, loss of confidence in life, the conflicts between doctors and patients. Therefore, we need to pay more attention to the medical personnel’s psychological and social issues.At present, some hospitals have actively provided services for patients with service concept and professional methods in medical social work, and get good service performance. Taking medical social work practice in Orthopaedics of S hospital in Wuhan for Instance, this paper finds that orthopaedic trauma patients meet three problems:economic demand’s expansion, lack of emotional support, loss of the subjectivity, which are related to the lack of social capital and psychological capital. Then the paper will summarize the medical social work intervention strategies, which focus on building relationship to find demands, correcting information to get a comprehensive assessment of needs, and exploring capital to solve problems. At last, the paper will reflect the shortcomings of medical social work practice for trauma patients in S hospital, and discuss preliminary the PAP service strategy to improve medical social work service.
