Background:Osteoporosis (OP) is a systemic disease characterized by low bone mass, damaged bone microstructure, increased bone fragility and prone to fracture. The severe consequence of osteoporosis is the osteoporotic fracture, in which vertebral fracture is the most common. Vertebral fissure is one of the structure features of the osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF). and it can influence the diagnosis and treatment.Object:To study the distribution, characteristic and therapeutic effect of PKP of OVCF with vertebral fissure, and compare with the OVCF without vertebral fissure. In order to analyze the influence of vertebral fissure on the diagnosis and treatment of OVCF.Method:183cases of OVCF were divided into two groups:group A, without vertebral fissure (139cases); group B, with vertebral fissure (44cases). The following data were compared between the two groups:age, sex, vertebral fracture frequency distribution, bone cement injection volume, postoperative bone cement imaging manifestation, cement leakage rate and type, vertebra height and recovery rate, clinical effect with VAS and ODI evaluation. Result:There were no significant differences in age, sex, bone cement injection volume, cement leakage rate, and VAS and ODI scores three days postoperatively between the two groups (P>0.05), There were significant differences in vertebral fracture frequency distribution, bone cement leakage type, and vertebral height restoration rate, between the two groups (P<0.05). And there were significant differences in vertebral height, VAS and ODI scores between preoperation and postoperation of all the183patients.Conclusion:Vertebral fissure is a special phenomenon of OVCF, and has special clinical, radiological and bone cement forming characteristics. Less trauma, good vertebral height, relief of pain, and improvement of daily activity can be gained with PKP treatment in OVCF with vertebral fissure.
