Background: Primary intraventricular hemorrhage is a hematoma confined eithercompletely within the ventricular system or arising within15mm from the ventricularwall, comprising only3.1%of all intracranial hemorrhages. Common causes have highblood pressure, choroid plexus aneurysm, brain vein Moyamoya disease, deformity, blood, etc. Clinical manifestations accord to the amount of blood loss.CT is the key tothe disease diagnosis. Early diagnosis and early treatment plan to choose the correcttreatment of this disease is the key. Objective: To identify clinical features, risk factors, and outcome of primaryintraventricular hemorrhage in adults. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data, complementaryexaminations, outcome and computed tomography (CT) IVH score of48patients inour hospital from2002to2011.Results: All patients were from29to76years old with the mean age of54.54,and the ration of males and females was2:1. Before their hospitalization,16.67(31/48)patients had hypertension;16.67%(8/48)had diabetes;25.00%(12/48)had history of stroke;16.67%(8/48)had heart disease;4.17%(2/48)had chronicheadache;6.25%(3/48)had history (kidney stones, pulmonary heart disease, partialgastric resection history, etc.).47.92%(23/48) has a long history of smoking and drinking.Allof the patients had acute onset, and43.75%(21/48) have significant incentives. Themain symptoms include headache85.42%(41/48); Dizzy25.00%(12/48); Nausea andvomiting was79.17%(38/48); Consciousness obstacle56.25%(27/48); Mentaldisorder in6.25%(3/48); Limb paralysis (more for light paralysis)8.33%(4/48); Highfever6.25%(3/48). The main complications have hydrocephalus10.42%(5/48);Pneumonia12.75%(6/48). All cases were performed on head CT examination: singleventricle bleeding25.00%(12/48); Part ventricle bleeding45.83%(22/48); All theventricle bleeding29.17%(14/48).11cases had intracranial artery angiography:1caseof intracranial aneurysms, Moyamoya disease8cases, did not see the abnormal in2cases.42patients be medical therapy,4cases of surgical treatment. Better42cases,death6patients (a mortality rate of12.50%). Conclusion:1, PIVH good hair at50to60years old, men more than women.2,causes the old and middle-aged people for high blood pressure, young is for theMoyamoya.3, PIVH mostly small amount of blood loss, typical and clinicalmanifestations are headache, vomiting and meningeal stimulation.4, CT is thepreferred way to diagnose.5, Treatment plan according to the extent of the disorder ofconsciousness and imaging findings choice.6, The amount of hematoma is related tothe severity of the illness, and disorder of consciousness is the main basis of evaluationPIVH prognosis.
