The Expression Of Matrix Metalloproteinase–3and Tissue Inhibitor Of Metalloproteinases-3in Placenta Of Pregnant Women With Preeclampsia

Objective: To investigate the expression of matrix metalloproteinases-3(MMP-3),tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-3(TIMP-3) and the changes of villous vessels density inplacenta in the patients with preeclampsia.Methods: Placenta tissues were collected from66patients admitted to the2nd affiliatedhospital of Shanxi medical university.66cases were composed by tested group (34patients withpreeclampsia) and control group (32normal pregnant women). The levels of MMP-3andTIMP-3in placenta of two groups were detected by immunohistochemistry and quantified byOD value. HE staining was used in order to count the number of villi vessels. Statistical analyseswere performed by independent samples t test using SPSS17.0.Results:1. MMP-3and TIMP-3were expressed in the cytoplasm of decidual cell and villoustrophoblast in normal placenta, and predominant expression of them was observed in villoustrophoblast.2. The expression of MMP-3in decidual cell (OD:0.28±0.03) and villious trophoblast (OD:0.29±0.06) of tested group was lower than those of control group (OD:0.38±0.04and0.40±0.05,respectively, both P <0.01).3.The expression of TIMP-3in decidual cell (OD:0.29±0.04) and villious trophoblast (OD:0.35±0.03) of tested group was higher than those of control group (OD:0.24±0.04and0.26±0.02,respectively, both P <0.01).4. The number of villi vessels was lower in tested group (59.13±6.72) than those in controlgroup (67.58±6.10, P <0.01).Conclusion: Lower expression of MMP-3, higher expression of TIMP-3, and less villousvessels density in placenta were found in preeclampsia. The study suggests that those changesmay be associate with the pathogenesis of preeclampsia.
